Synopsis:
"The first two installments in Scottish filmmaker Bill Douglas's semiautobiographical trilogy explore a boy's grim childhood, as he and his family struggle to survive in a destitute Highlands mining town. First, in "My Childhood," a young boy's difficult life with his half-brother and grandmother is improved when they befriend a German POW. Then, in "My Ain Folk," the boy's two grandmothers die, so he's sent to live in an orphanage. "
