Synopsis: "Picking up where his cult show "Firefly" left off, writer-director Joss Whedon's tale of galactic unrest follows Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion), captain of the transport ship Serenity, and his scrappy but loyal crew. When the ship picks up two fugitives from the powerful coalition ruling the universe, "Mal" and his mates find themselves at the center of a cosmic conflict, pursued by military forces and space-roaming savages." "R. Ebert's Descendant here - These other two reviews are useless.""First off, this one was put together by the same guy behind the HUGE cult classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You know - the one with Sarah Michelle Gellar and the crew. Charisma Carpenter who is STILL one of the most gorgeous women in the world. This one starts out nicely. It has good looking actors in it who also deliver - THE DOUBLE PACKAGE - and it also has a easy storyline to follow. Like he does best, Joss Whedon actually combines all of the elements in this one; love, hurt, pain, suffering, a little bit of horror, action, exquisitely mapped out fight scenes, drama and yes... ...humor. Joss doesn't miss with this one. Summer Glaum plays River Tam and she is absolutely beautiful - Nice movie - get it - rent it - it's worth far more than some that are out now!!" by Ebert on Sat Sep 25th, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report"you cant take the sky from me since i found serenity""well serenity is just purely awesome, based on the tv show firefly. if you haven't seen firefly then serenity may not make any sense to you at all and i do not recommend it but if you have seen firefly then where the hell have you been? get your arse over to your nearest dvd shop and buy it! with great unique characters you feel for all of them. the film takes the audience through the journey of serenity fighting reavers and what not. reaver becomes bad ass and awesome which makes the movie immense. just buy it." by lordypordy on Sun Sep 5th, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Not quite serenity""There is very little I can say about this film, It changes the firefly tv show into something very differnt yet almost just as brilliant. The entire thing is great, acting, directing writing. Its whedon at his best - I do question if the film would have the same effec on sonebody who had not seen the tv show (everyone). But then theres the end, which being the closing of the story does not give me a sense of serenity. A high on action, fast paced film like this tries to end morosley and slowly. And yet only succeeds witht he latter. I will not spoil it but 2 characters may sightly die and it may be very poorly handled with no emotion or closure. In fact I ried at the end, half of the reason was because they killed my favourite character - the other half because they did it for absoloutly no reason apart from the fat that joss whedon was bored and also ecause of how little eotion there was in it. A dissapoitning end really, to a film that really is one long ending...doesnt that make it redundant? No because it is also one of the best sci-fi film ever made and has had a great influence on films such as star strek and star wars witch really - should be inspiring it." by Rogus on Sun Sep 5th, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report |
