Synopsis: "" "The Laurel & Hardy Collection: Vol. 2: Alone and Together: "Oliver Har""Hal Roach has made many Laurel and hardy films but i think that this is by far his best. From what i gather this is considered his one of,if not his very best films. This film is more or less about oliver hardy and stanley laurel. they are working in a horn factory and oliver comes down with a severe case of hornaphobia {fear of horns} and must rent a boat to get plenty of sea air{doctors orders}and take a strict diet of goats milk. however at the same time the infamous serial killer nick grainger has escaped from prison and is on the run from the law. oliver and stanley rent a boat and tie their goat{for goats milk}to the dock. nick hides in the life boat under the cover of darkness to escape from the police who are hot in pursuit. as per usual everything goes belly up and the goat bites the painter{the rope used to dock a boat}which causes the boat to drift out to sea. to make matters even worse, the boat was not even sea worthy in the first place! now oliver and stanley are trapped with nick and nick junior which is nicks' gun in case you were wondering! this a truly splendid comedy which is appealing to all lovers of classic cinema and all comedy lovers. laurel and hardy are two of the greatest comedians in world history who rank along side the likes of charlie chaplain and george formby . i would highly recommend this highly entertaining, amusing and utterly brilliant piece of cinema. it is a truly "swell" {as stanley would say!}film." by blackadder on Fri Jan 23rd, 2009 0 Comments | Reply | Report |
