Synopsis: "Based on the popular toys that transform into giant robots, this live-action Michael Bay megahit finds the planet Cybertron inhabitants engaging in a secret war for control of Earth's natural resources, which they desperately need for fuel. But much of the action centers on young Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), an unlikely hero whose first car turns out to be an Autobot and helps him win over his dream girl (Megan Fox)." "optimus prime made the movie""good movie, i absolutely love optimus prime. the autobots and decepticons look funny and all that, but the movie had great story and great action all though they could of done with more action." by lordypordy on Sun Sep 5th, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Great movie, go out and see it now!""The action, the acting, the story line, the ending. But when I did let me tell you it was pretty good. So I was very shocked when this movie turned out to be the way it was. I would tell anyone to watch it." by reneebg1 on Wed Jun 2nd, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report"I am indebted to Michael Bay for bringing my childhood back to life.""It was the best fun I’ve had in years. No, I don’t mean to imply that I haven’t been having fun in the last years, but that the movie was so amazing. Brilliant! Optimus Prime rules! The movie even had Peter Cullen reprise his role and give his voice to the movie Optimus! Eighteen billion stars! I remember all those Saturday mornings my sister and I spent watching cartoons on RPN 9 (Saturday Fun Machine) and one of our favorite cartoons (bukod sa Gummie Bears, Pandamonium, Black Star and syempre, the Superfriends)was the Transformers. Ate Majalla’s first love (hahaha!) was Optimus Prime, and when he died in the movie cartoon about three years later, waaaah! What I liked best besides the robots themselves and the goofy but lovable Witwickys was the fact 404pxtransformers07 that US military supremacy was dunked liked so many mushy donuts in a vat of boiling joe. US military might took a serious beating in that film — the troops were reduced to reviving antiquated telegraphs and walkie-talkies that looked like car batteries for all their size and heft just so they could communicate with the Air Force and seek help. The Decepticon attack in the first part of the film wiped out an entire US military base in Qatar — flattened and leveled everything. I had a hard time not cheering and yelling ‘Yay, Decepticons!’ because, of course, we are all supposed to be on the side of the the Autobots. When Starscream (whom I particularly hated in the cartoons) shot a few military jets clear out of sky later on in the film, I wanted to hell ‘Stupid Airforce! How the hell do they think they can fight against a robot plane that’s like 20,000 years technologically more advanced?!" ) There were some reviews on Rotten Tomatoes saying that the movie was brainless and heartless. On the brainless issue, well, if you lack an imagination and you take the movie too seriously, you won’t like the film (and you shouldn”t go because it’s all about crashing and twisting metal and debris flying every which way); but on the accusation that it’s heartless? Sam and his family were pretty likable. They were a happy, normal and close family, their relations warm but never syrupy, and it felt good to watch the three of them interact (and how they took care of their pet Chihuaha, Mojo). It was also touching how Sam fought for his car which turned out to be the Autobot Bumblebee (in the tv cartoons, Bumble Bee’s ‘owner’ was a younger boy named Spike)when the military swooped in subdued Bumble Bee by blasting him with cryogenic sprays. I don’t really mind that the Autobots in the movie didn’t have carry their original car models as in the cartoon; pero I did feel a little annoyed that Bumble Bee wasn’t a VW Beetle. So here I am and I keep making the sounds the Transformers make when they , uh, transform and i think it’s getting on the nerves of some of the people here. Go watch Transformers and have a real blast. I am indebted to Michael Bay for bringing my childhood back to life. I’ve heard that there are going to be TWO sequels. Walang sinabi ang Spider-Man. Beyond Good. Beyond Evil. Beyond Your Wildest Imagination. This was the theme of the Transformers movie cartoon." by achievinghappiness on Sat Mar 13th, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers-A great movie""When the movie came out, i really did not have a chance to watch it, until about 1-2 years later my father's friend got me the disk. The movie was amazing. The action scenes with the Decepticons was TERRIFIC. Great use of CG. EVERYTHING about it was good. SPOILER I liked the scene with the Transformers in Sam's backyard, accidently breaking things like when Optimus Prime accidently broke a water fountain and said : "My bad" XP" by Thereviewer on Sat Feb 27th, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""I grew up with these cartoons and little transforming toys that came out, and it was a very new thing to me then which drew most of my attention. Its to my suprise though that through the years this concept of the movie has been exploited in many ways. Due to the many Auto_bots , Cyber-bots and other types of transforming toy out in the market and not to forget the cartoon versions of this movie as well. The movie concept was great but execution of a good plot and placement of good actors to support this type of action drawn attraction. After watching this movie I personally felt this film had been not thought out as it should, I guess that is why that the film developers or directors wanted a little bit of everything, thats fine but when you have second rate actors it really gos no where. Also the script seems like babbling to me in way. There however was moments of suspense but not strong enough to me to be worthy film to watch. Sure it has your transformers who everyone wants see , but if that is the only reason you want to see this film. I feel allot of action films that have the potential usaully get rushed to make loosing the the valuable editing time to properly execute a blockbuster of epic proportions. All about money in this market sometimes people get the wrong perception of what really makes a good movie when they too are rushed to see this as well." by Shupes on Mon Feb 22nd, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""I am 14 years old. I saw this movie over the summer with a buddy of mine. We rode our bikes 2 miles to the nearest movie theater. It was completely worth it. This is single handedly one of the best movies i have ever seen. I bought it when it cmae out on dvd. I showed it to my father and he liked it. this movie has everything. comedy, action, romance, suspense, sci-fi, animation. it is a great movie that i would advise anybody to see. yes, its really long. but it is completly worth it." by theburningghost on Sun Jan 13th, 2008 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""This was on par with all the sweet transformers cartoons you loved when you were a kid. The CGI was impressive as was the action and EXPLOSIONS. Shai Le beef delievered a decent performance and was fun to watch. Didn't leave you wanting much else. The transformations of the transformers from car to whatever their original shape was the best part. The end scene fight left you breathless and on the edge of your seat with a hardon!! Seriously, go see this
movie. Sure its mediocre but if you're an action junkie and if you enjoyed the movie 'crank', then this is probably for you. It wouldn't hurt to have a touch of nerdiness in your blood either. the comedy is not bad either. The mom makes a hilarious masturbation comment and the cameo by john turturro leaves you heaving with laughter. i love that guy.
Ok so, if you haven't seen it, you should probably check it out because its just one of those movies you should see. Like when you were in high school and the literature teachers made you read the Odyssey: you didn't really enjoy it but after you read it, you felt like you could relate all aspects of life to it. Even though this movie is nowhere near the literature of the Odyssey, this comparison seems .. right." by jazzaholic899 on Sat Dec 22nd, 2007 2 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""you wil jump out of your socks when you see this film it is major action movie with all the transformers at there animated kinda selfs you better see it soon" by supergirl121 on Thu Aug 30th, 2007 1 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""despite the bad directing and corny dialouge Transformers turned out to be a dazzling expreience for teens and adults.now as much as noth critics and audiences re giving ths a thumbs down i understand cause i did see a lot of flaws and one that was very bad was humor in the wrong places.it seemed to give it a kidish feel and i did not like it when that happened.i think this movie should have been aimed towards a more serious role and with Shia Lebouf you already know there is some humor involved.now the cast i didn`t mind but the script lacked.now there is one feature poeple love anout this movie and it`s the detail that was pretty much the best i`ve seen in 5 years since the matrix.it proved spectacular on all levels.the action sequences were phenominal i was just fully enterained and glued to the screen and although most people hated thi movie I thought Transforems was a good summer blockbuster" by dudester101 on Thu Aug 23rd, 2007 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""wow, now this movie was great. I'll start by listing the bad things: acting was second-rate, kinda corny dialogue (but hey, that's the Transformers right?), too human-like robots (but hey, THAT'S the tranformers too, right?), and the humor was only chuckle-enducing. And now for the good parts: AMAZING CGI!!!!!! awesome fight and action scenes, gorgeous transformation scenes, even though they were slow (which kept the dazzling effects working even longer), the government was very government-like, not like other movies when the filmakers didn't really know how the government would handle things. The action scenes aren't cut off to other scenes right in the good parts or suspenseful ones, thus ensuring you satisfaction. And the characters are loveable. likeable. well, enjoyable. lol. So all in all, this movie is a must-see. It's great fun, and will have you chompin' your popcorn the whole way through. You can decide for yourself. I recommend it. It would've gotten 5 stars, but the acting and other bad things brought it down one star. still great though!!" by Mason on Thu Aug 9th, 2007 3 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""To start off, I LOVED this movie. It's in the top 5 best movies I've ever seen. And if you've read my review for Spider-Man 3, I hold it very high. This movie is better. As I always do, I'll start with the pros of the movie. First of all, the CGI was so good, I forgot the robots were fake. Second, I had VERY high expectations for this movie. It surpassed them. While some parents may take offense with Sam's mom asking if he's masturbating, (Played entirely for comedy.) I'd say amyone 11 and over should just laugh. And although this movie is a truly amazing expirience, no movie is without fault. I did't like how the British girl was so critical, yet, she comes into the movie as well, a British girl. You don't even know her. Also, can you really call the operator and ask for the Pentagon? I highly doubt it. Although this movie may have a few hiccups here and there, I think this was THE best movie of summer, 2007." by Bubbajean on Wed Aug 8th, 2007 2 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""What was once a laughed at movie, (remember that trailer with the space probe on mars?), has become one of the biggest hits of the summer, but does it deserve that title? I went in expecting a stupid funny action movie, with the main character being a geek who gets a transformer. I got that. The movie overall works for some reason, it's got so many clichés in it but it works for me. Shia LaBeouf is excellent in this movie, his comedic timing is perfect, and Megan Fox is brought in as the hot high school girl who knows more about cars than probably all the guys in her school. Late at night the new car that Shia bought turns on and he chases it thinking that it's being stolen. Eventually the car reveals its true form to him once a bad Transformer attacks him and the two become friends, so to speak. Both Transformers, good and bad, are searching for The Cube which is a source of life to them and their planet. The trouble begins when a Military base in Iraq is attacked by a transformer and the Secretary of Defense has many people working on trying to figure out who attacked them. There are many plots and back stories that are told and most are unnecessary. Megan Fox's past being one of the major unnecessary ones. The point is this movie is about the Transformers, throw in people but not so many, and not so many important ones. Despite all this however the movie is fun to watch and funny, until you get to the very end. Of course at the end the Transformers, Decepticons and Autobots, have to fight it out. This whole fight is filled with the corniest dialogue you will ever here such as "You want a piece of me?" "No I want two pieces." Then the bad one rips a good one in half. Of course the Transformers have always been like that so that is acceptable but the problem is with the fight itself. There is so much going on that during some points you can't tell one transformer apart from the other, and it's just a huge amount of crashing and explosions. This movie was a good popcorn flick but never elevates to much more than that. I give it 3 out of 5 making it an Enjoyable Experience for me." by hyperactiveboi on Tue Aug 7th, 2007 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""hello i would like to say that Dave Karger of Entertainment Weekly, you have no right in ridiculing the Transformers Movie and I am apalled in what you said. I watched the movie and I happen to agree with Mr Roeper on Sunday 7/15/2007 when the show Ebert and Roeper aired in my area. I can tell you from watching the Transformers Cartoons, I never have seen Barricade the police car. and from what i remember in the cartoons Bumble Bee was a VW Bug... in the movie, he is a Camaro. I can tell you this I missed only a few minutes cause i had to use the restroom. I can tell you this that the movie is a good seller.. When it comes out on dvd.. I am going to buy it.. " by kitten981 on Sun Jul 15th, 2007 7 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""I will start this review by saying that I usually watch movies with no expectations so that I will not have a built in bias and thus enjoy it or despise it accordingly. However, I am a product of the Reagan-era 1980's where cartoons were king; Remember those days? Remember The Thundercats, Voltron, Bravestar, Thundaar the Barbarian, G.I. Joe, G-Force, the Go-Bots, the list goes on and on. One cartoon however, stood far above all of which I have mentioned: It was called the frickin' Transformers! Before I knew that a live-action version of the cartoon would be made, I thought, "Would it not be cool to put the Transformers in live action". CGI took off and audiences around the globe soon discovered that "anything" could be adapted for the screen. So my wish has been granted and the Transformers are here. Referring back to my opening sentence, I "did" have expectations going in to this film. I expected lots of fighting between the Autobots and Decepticons, state of the art special effects, at least 2hours running time, corny speeches from Optimus prime, equally corny rule-the-world mumbo-jumbo from Megatron, and a close likeness to the cartoon. All of my expectations were met and exceeded. This movie was just as ridiculous and corny as the cartoon. All the save the world, human life should be respected and cherished, I'll get you next time Optimus, you're the last hope for humanity quirky silliness from the cartoon was seamlessly transferred to the film. Moreover, I am a bit of a fan boy and I know that within the film lied many inaccuracies. But I will not bother mentioning them because half of you will have no idea what I am talking about, and the other half could not care less. Besides, does it really matter? No, I expected the general concept of the Transformers to be represented and it was. The action scenes were done so well, that I was literally a gasp, thinking," how in the world did they do that?†And there were even a few laugh-out-loud moments that took place among the audience and me. The romance between Shia and Meagan was incredibly weak. She was as shallow as they come, and he came off as a tongue-wagging pubescent teenager. I wish that the Autobots were depicted more seriously. The film did them a disservice by making them "too" clownish. The cartoon’s Optimus Prime would never say "my bad". Nevertheless, my complaints are few, as I stated before, mission accomplished. Now, is this a good movie? I would have to say yes, it is a good movie. However, Transformers enthusiasts may find the movie disagreeable. Stuffy old critics who would not know how to have a good time to save their lives will find this movie shallow and half-baked. Many will experience "battle weariness" after the first hour and a half (there are probably more explosions in this movie than WWI, and WWII combined). And lastly, for the women out there who are lifetime network aficionados, this is a film made by guys, for guys, there's no romance, no love story, no good relationships, in fact it is difficult to care for a single character in the entire film; well maybe Bumblebee and he's a freakin' robot! That aside, no this is not The Lord of the Rings, Spiderman I, or any of the other highly acclaimed action-based films. It is the Transformers, so just deal with it." by lordodin on Mon Jul 9th, 2007 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""I believe this Movie was good. I do remember the original Cartoon version of the movie. That my Dad took me to see over 25 Years Ago. The Robots in this one was a bit too slow transforming. But it left a big opening for more to come. Most movies that become more than one,the second one is usually better. So i look forward to more Transformers." by tazman on Sun Jul 8th, 2007 1 Comments | Reply | Report"Transformers""First of all, I'm a life-long fan of the original toys, cartoons and comic books. So, like many others who embrace all things Transformers, I was dying to see this film. Well, one dream came true, I got to see some of my favorite Transformers on the big screen, brought to life with magnificent special effects. That is all the kindness I can show this movie.
Just because I love the robots doesn't mean I don't care if the rest of the movie completely tanks. The story was drawn from the lore of the comics/cartoons, but it just felt thrown in there and barely treated as important, so when they did focus on the story line for 5 seconds it felt cheesy.
There were also many sub threads, it seemed to me they were going for the converging character threads as in the film Independence Day. But ID4 had interesting likable characters. I'm not sure why I could care so little for the humans in Transformers, they did a great job casting. But I felt no connection to anyone in the film. There was no need for one minor thread at all, concerning a blond British hacker girl... if the one saving grace of this movie could have been the exciting action scenes, there was always this girl popping up to SLOW the movie down TOO much.
And I realize they wanted kids to like this movie to sell more toys, but can't you be funny without making the whole feeling of a scene, or even a movie, be so STUPID? Giant robots hiding in some one's back yard... The CARTOONS took the subject matter, and therefore the audience, more seriously than this!!!
Cool robots... big CG baddies with cool futuristic weapons who change into awesome cars, tanks, jets... all of that good stuff. But that's all this movie had. I had better adventures with the toys in my backyard when I was 10.
