Synopsis:
"Moments after he arrives in Spain for a landmark antiterrorism summit, U.S. President Ashton is shot. The 15 minutes leading up to the shooting are rehashed -- Rashomon-style -- from the perspective of various onlookers: two Secret Service agents (Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox), a TV reporter (Sigourney Weaver) and a tourist (Forest Whitaker). This nail-biting political thriller marks the feature directorial debut of Pete Travis."

"Vantage Point"

"Vantage Point is an exciting thriller based around the tragic shooting of the President of the United States and the different point of views that see the event happen. The First point of view is a news team covering the summit the President is attending and speaking at. They are directing where everyone should be then… a shot goes off and the president is shot. The next point of view is of a Secret Service Agent who attends especially to the President. He tries every way possible to find out what happened to the President and who the shooter is. Following is the point of view of a Policeman who is there to protect the Mayor of the city the summit is in. He provides the idea that no one can be trusted in panic, even enforcers of law. The next point of view is of an American visiting Europe for the first time to see the summit. He has a video camera that helps the Secret Service in finding the shooter. The point of view of the President is when everything starts to get everything wrapped up and concluded. There is very confusing, yet informative facts presented in this clips. This part will put you on a twist that does not end until the end of the movie. The final concluding point of view is told in the way of seeing it from all points of view and plays out the story as everything happens in real time. This brings a great conclusion to the end"

"Vantage Point"

"The political thriller “Vantage Point” is exciting and full of non-stop action. Although most movies whose plots revolve around politics can tend to be boring and dry, “Vantage Point” keeps its audience, mainly young adults, interested and on their toes. In the movie, the president of the United States is speaking at an anti-terrorism summit conference in Salamanca, Spain when he gets shot multiple times. Minutes later two bombs explode in the city’s main plaza. The x-factor that makes “Vantage Point” unique and unlike most movies out today is that the events leading up to, during, and after the attack are told from the viewpoint of several different characters. Each character relays a new piece of information ultimately bringing the audience closer to the truth. The audience must put together all of the information obtained from each character’s perspective in order to figure out who is responsible for the assassination of the president. This unique narrative technique keeps the audience involved and interested to find out what the next narrative will uncover. This unique script adds to the suspense of this already tantalizing thriller. Not only is the plot well-thought out, intricate, and detailed, but the cast, who include stars such as Dennis Quaid, and William Hurt, are believable and realistic. Coupled with the movie’s full-throttle action-packed scenes, star studded cast, and original plot line, “Vantage Point” is one of the best action movies I’ve seen in a long time. "

For anyone who is seeking thrills, intense action sequences, and plot turns, the movie Vantage Point is for you. The movie leaves audiences wanting more as the plot is revealed in a unique way. The same event, the president’s assassination, happens six times during the movie, but each time we see the sequences of events in someone else’s perspective. This rare way of describing a story is what makes this movie a true crowd pleaser. With each new perspective the audience learns a little more about the events, and begins to better understand what is truly happening behind all the panic and ciaos. The movie is filled with fast pace car chases and extreme terrorist plots that give this movie an intense edge. The action sequences leaves your heart beating faster and gives you a real rush. Any who appreciates a good action thriller will enjoy this movie. I highly recommend this movie not only for the different way the story is revealed but also because the acting throughout the movie really adds the plot and makes this movie a real crow pleaser.

"When I first saw previews for Vantage Point, I was expecting it to be a movie I would rent and enjoy, but never really think about again. I finally got a chance to view it, and it turned out to be much better than a mediocre assassination movie. The plot was much deeper than I could have imagined, with so many twists and turns at the end I thought my head would explode. I was intrigued the whole way through, with the plot always changing and lengthening. Not only was this movie very deep, it was also filled with action. During all of the different viewpoints, there was not one that didn’t have any action. Superb acting by Dennis Quaid and Forrest Whitaker also made this movie a must see. So if you are like I was, and just figured that this movie would be nothing special, go out and see it right now. It will not disappoint. "

"Not even a star- studded cast had the power to fix the directing of Vantage Point. Dennis Quaid, Forest Whitaker, Matthew Fox, William Hurt, and Sigourney Weaver all played a role in this film. The plot revolves around an assassination attempt of a U.S. president (William Hurt) in Salamanca, Spain. The assassination is viewed through the vantage point of various characters an American civilian with a camcorder (Forest Whitaker), A secret servicemen (Dennis Quaid), and others. Once the president is shot the movie begins to take a turn for the worse. The plot begins to become confusing. After every 10 minute segment of current actions there is a rewinding back to the previous point of the assassination; just to eventually make a little bit of progress into the plot. Without this technique the movie would not have been confusing and generally irritating to watch. I myself at times sighed in frustration when I saw the clock rewind twenty-three minutes back to the assassination. Despite great casting, this film only earns a 6 out of 10 on my scale. "

"Vantage Point"

"The movie vantage point was a decent thriller. It has action, suspense and foreshadowing. The movie overall was well done and the actors really meshed well. In all of the points of view, you have to take n a new relationship and analyze how that was going to be a part of the movie. The writers were excellent because they keep us hanging on the characters every word to understand what is going on. I like those movies that keep you guessing and get you involved by trying to figure out what will happen next. Vantage poit is one of those movies you have to pay close attention and if you do not you will miss something. The performance by the actors was very good. I do like how you get to see the point of view of more then just one person. It was surprising to me when I found out who was behind the whole thing. I think though it had to be someone on the inside or the movie would have not worked. I liked how there were no random parts everything belonged. I was disappointed when I did not find out more about the relationship between some of the characters. Such as the policeman and his girlfriend. However, I guess in a way its ok because if you knew everything then it would not be as interesting. Over all I thought Vantage Point was a top action packed movie. "

"Vantage Point"

"“Vantage Point” contains very entertaining and repetitive parts. The whole concept of the time reversal and seeing each character's point of view is something fresh. The President of the United States of America is in Spain the give a speech at a peace rally. The President is shot and 2 bombs explode. The audience sees the shooting and explosions from people’s point of views who were their and involved. The only problem is the repetitiveness of the scenes. Seeing the President get gunned down six times in a row gets very old. It also gets very annoying when each point of view ends with such a stereotypical suspense that has been seen in hundreds of other films. Dennis Quad’s point of view ends with him pointing at the television set and saying “Oh my God”, without the audience being able to seen anything and have to wait another 30 minutes to learn something new. The car chase scenes with Dennis Quad and Matthew Fox were both entertaining and very unrealistic. Dennis Quad is driving a small passenger car that gets crushed into a building by a semi. Dennis simply hops out, gets on his phone shouting out locations, and continues the chase running on foot. This film did have quite an entertaining cast including Dennis Quad, Matthew Fox and Forrest Whitaker. Once the movie stops replaying the same scene from different points of view, the suspense and storyline become stronger. Overall, “Vantage Point” was an entertaining B class movie.

"Vantage Point"

"Don't consider Vantage Point your normal action film, different views of the same event shine light on the many different parts of the Presidential assasination. The movie seems confusing until you put the pieces together. One of the problems with the movie is the characters are underdeveloped, you never learn much about Enrique the spanish officer. It's hard to know whether he is a good or bad character which adds to the plot, but leaves the viewer questioning the characters motives. Underdeveloped characters, repitition of views and unanswered questions bring the movie down. Its hard to ignore the action and intrigue though that come with the different view and the suprise ending. Over all I would rate this movie a 2 1/2-3 star movie action packed but is brought down by the lack of the directors ability. Watch it to find out!"

"Vantage Point"

"I would highly recommend this film, Vantage Point, to those who are seeking an action packed movie to watch. Vantage Point is one of the most skillfully and clever written movies to have hit the big screen in a long while. At the surface the plot seems very simple; virtually the same scene is repeated six times. Yet each new perspective of the president-aimed terrorist attacks in Spain adds to the story line, creating a complex scheme which demands the audience’s full attention. The plot revolves around the president of the United States, played by William Hurt, who is supposed to be making a speech in Spain. A series of action packed scenes then follow which create questions for the audience. The following scenes of the movie reveal the same fifteen minutes of events as the preceding ones, but each new perspective begins to reveal and answer some of the mysteries. While it may seem repetitive at first, the writers’ way of slowly revealing the outcome of the movie through the eyes of the different characters’ truly makes this movie worthwhile. It is very exciting and interesting to watch the story line unfold through the perspectives of these different individuals without ever having a true main character. "

"“Vantage Point Review” -Alyssa Vasseur

For anyone who has not seen “Vantage Point” this thrilling film will surely keep you on your toes. “Vantage Point” covers the assassination of the president. This one event is shown through the eyes of six different people. I’ve realized no matter how many times you watch something; you can always pick up new details each time.

First, a news crew shows their view through a couple newscasters broadcasting from different locations. I like this view because it shows us the technical side of what goes on behind the scenes. After a sequence of events occur, the movie goes in reverse to restart from the same spot. This time it begins with the view of Thomas Barnes, a secret service agent. This perspective shows us the seriousness of being aware of your surroundings especially when oug in public. Next, as time rolls back, the conference is shown from the eyes of Enrique, a worker of the mayor. In the middle of everything going on, an innocent bystander, Howard Louis, records the shooting on tape. This view is significant because it comes from an ordinary person. We are able to relate to this man easier than for instance the secret service agents. From the president’s view it is later revealed that the president at the podium is a fake. The real president watches the event on television as it is happening. The last point of view comes from Javier, the brother of Enrique. Each view is packed with action and suspense that keeps you interested.

By using these different view points, it makes it possible for us to better understand what goes on. It is defiantly important to pay attention while watching the movie to be able to differentiate between each view. Although it may seem repetitive, watching something over and over helps us to pick up new information that wasn’t noticed before. "

"Vantage Point"

"If you have watched the suspenseful thriller, “Vantage Point”, you will know that it was an interesting twist to the usual cliché Hollywood action films. The director, Pete Travis, introduced the viewers to a new style of watching movies. Instead of the usual one main character that we follow throughout the movie, he uses the six different perspectives of six different characters that are witnessing the same events. It is very interesting and vigorous how from each different perspective, we find out some other pieces of the puzzle. It is appealing to see how the story unfolded and kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time. It is nice to know that I don’t have to already know the ending of the movie just by watching the previews, because this keeps you guessing until the very end. This was an original film that was not only action, but there was a little bit of romance and mystery as well. With the help of some top actors such as Dennis Quaid and Forest Whitaker, first-time feature director Pete Travis deserves applause for his impressive work."

"Vantage Point"

"Since I’m not much of an acton movie person, I wasn’t exactly thrilled when it was announced that we would be watching the movie “Vantage Point” in English class. Those of you who have seen this movie know that the movie’s plot is an exciting mix of extreme action scenes, multiple points of view and surprising twists. This action flick comes with a price however; you won’t get much out of “Vantage Point” by staring at the screen with your mouth half-open. If you haven’t seen the movie, the simple structure of the story allows the audience the ability to spend less time figuring out the story, in exchange for the burden of keeping the movie’s ten-plus points of view straight. It may seem like more work than you’d like to put in to such a simple task as watching a movie, but after the first ten minutes of the movie you’ll be hooked and paying attention with ease. By putting a little effort in to paying attention to detail and remembering characters, you’ll thank yourself when the tidal wave of ending scenes brings all the characters’ points of view together for a shocking outcome. By Anonymous Student Targeted audience: People who have not seen the movie yet.

The action packed “Vantage Point” is one of the most exhilarating and suspenseful films I have seen in a while. How many times have you heard several different explanations over one single event that has occurred and didn’t know which one was most accurate?

Vantage Point takes place at an anti-terrorism conference in Salamanca, Spain. The president of the United States is giving a speech at the rally, with body guards at his side, when supposedly he is shot from a distance…or was he?

The movie was made to show the unfolding of the terrorist attack from several different characters point of view. Starting with the news crew covering the event to the terrorists themselves who planned the attack, each point of view reveals new information about the incident putting all of the pieces to the big picture together.

Starring Dennis Quaid, William Hurt, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker and many more outstanding actors, “Vantage Point” is an exciting action packed film that we kill you on your toes. From lots of gunfire and explosions to high speed car chases, “Vantage Point” won’t leave you unsatisfied. "

"If you are looking for a exciting movie full of twists, action, and a sophisticated plot. Than Vantage Point is a must see. The Movie shows a different point of view from at least 4 different characters regarding the President Of the United States. It's a little hard for me to explain the movie, but to say the least I found it extremely entertaining, and I would sum it up as one of those movies where you can't remember a boring part. Also i would say you could probably watch this movie with the family I wouldn't say anyone under 12 years old. Not because it us vulgar but because it's pretty complex. I really enjoyed it and highly reccomend it."

"Vantage Point"

"As I began to watch this movie I thought it was going to be a simple action movie with a simple plot and no character development especially since the run time for this movie is only 90 minutes. I was wrong. The story shows you the same scenario over and over several times but how it gets to that is changed based on which character's vantage point and how that person got into that situation. Eventhough the movie is short you still get to understand the characters and why they did what they did. The action scenes are intense and the fast telling of the events makes it all of a more intense movie experience. As the plot unfolds you are at the edge of your seat wondering whats going to happen next. I was really surprised at how this turned out and if you are a fan of action/suspense then you are in for an entertaining time."
