Synopsis: "Fifty years after a time capsule was buried at a local school, teacher John Koestler (Nicolas Cage) examines its contents and discovers that it holds many shockingly true predictions. Soon, John is convinced that his family will play a role in an impending apocalypse. Rose Byrne co-stars as Diane Wayland, the daughter of the woman who first buried the capsule, in this tense blockbuster thriller from ace sci-fi auteur Alex Proyas." "Knowing"""This is a truly great movie. The whole story is very good and is gripping and is a bit mysterious. The big mystries make the movie gripping, by watching the movie you want to know more and more. The special effects in this movie are also very good. The movie has a great storyline (with predicting incidents) but the ending was rubbish. Thats why I give this movie four out of five stars."" by naoufal on Fri Nov 18th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"naoufal""This is a truly great movie. But the ending is SHIT. The movie keeps you on the edge of your seat, and all you want is a good ending that explains everything. THIS DOESN'T. By the time the movie ended, i was so angry at how many questions were left unanswered, like: "WHO THE HELL ARE THOSE ALIENS IN BLACK CLOTHING AND WHY THE HELL DO THEY HAVE HUGE BALL-SHAPED SPACESHIPS THAT BRING PEOPLE TO HEAVEN?" You'd be better off watching the first 1h 30mins and then walk out of the theatre cause the ending does not answer your questions." by Thereviewer on Thu Oct 20th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Knowing"" This is the film that people have been waiting for. Those who love disaster films this is the best one ever made. The story was well put together and it was filled with suspense you can cut with a knife. There are not too many actors really focused on to say great things about them but Nicolas Cage nails this role. He was superb. The special effects were amazing and surprisingly necessary to the story. Usually in these type of movies the special fx sequences take away from the story or are put in there just to try to make sure you are not bored with the story they are showing you, but not this film. The film is about a professor of astrophysics at MIT John Koestler (Nicolas Cage)who is raising his son Caleb alone because his wife died a year ago and he is trying to do right with his son. Now he goes to an assembly at his son's school in which the school opens a time capsule full with drawings from kids 50 years ago predicting what the future would look like. All of the children receive pictures but Caleb gets a paper with only sequences of numbers, He takes it home and his father finds it and in the middle of night tries to see if he could make sense of the numbers. All through the night he works on this and figures out that the numbers are dates of disaster and the number of deaths and realizes that they are predictions. Now he researches and tries to prevent the disasters that have not occurred yet. From the beginning you are drawn in and kept in suspense until the very end but after he figures out what the numbers mean the movie picks up the pace but successfully makes you feel like that you are not rushed at all. The disaster sequences are amazing and while I was watching the film I felt that I was right there with Professor John Koestler. That is how real it felt. I was drawn in and I felt like I was a victim who had just witnessed everything that happened. I did not feel like I was watching a movie but I felt like if I was experiencing it the whole time. By the time the movie ends you feel satisfied with how everything turns out and it end great. I did not feel like the ending could have been better, it ended the way it was supposed to end I was happy with it. This is the best science fiction movie I have ever seen, it was intelligent, very tense and suspenseful. This to me is the greatest sci-fi film to date and will be for a long time." by moviemantilidie on Mon Mar 30th, 2009 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Knowing""In the year 1959, during a school's opening year, the elementary school teacher asks the students todraw what they think the future will be like and the drawings will be put in a 50 year time capsule. All of the students have a typical drawing with flying cars except for a young girl named Lucinda. In fact, she isn't even a drawing. She's writing down a bunch of numbers that mean some sort of code. 50 years later, each student now at that school gets a drawing. Or in another young man's case, numbers. The student named Caleb takes the piece of paper to his dad. The dad (Nicolas Cage) discovers that the numbers are a code for every major fatal event in the last 50 years. There are three events left and he has to save the victims of those events before it's too late. The first two events that are shown in the film are absolutely stunning to watch because of the special-effects and the way the camera shots are handled and how everything is so well put together during those scenes. We do get some nice work here from Nicolas Cage as he's constantly moving around trying to save people from deadly happenings. Another thing in the movie that stands out is the music. The pacing and the beat of it is perfect and keeps the audience engaged to the screen. The two actors that actors that accompany Cage-one plays his son and the other plays Lucinda's daughter-are not right at all for this picture. Throughout the film, they're either trying way too hard to act in their roles or they're just flat-out boring and nobody wants to scene that type of acting. Also, the movie has a ending that just doesn't work and it feels like sort of a let down as you leave the theatre, almost as if you've been cheated by the story. Overall, I'm cofident that the film could've been worse, I'm confident that the film could've been better, but I'm also confident that the average american audience will enjoy this production will all of its intense action that sweeps you off your feet. If you like the movie "Deep Impact" or even the "Final Destination" films then odds are you will enjoy "Knowing" if you see it." by justopinion2013 on Sat Mar 28th, 2009 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Knowing""As history will tell you, the really good movies have scenes in them that stick with you long after you left the theater. For all the technology that is available to filmakers today, their is a surprising amount of movies in recent years that don't do that. It seems the thing to do anymore is remakes of old classics, remakes of old T.V. shows, and remakes of remakes. Throw in some modern special effects and some 20 year old actors playing 40 year old characters, and promote the hell out of it so we can all sucker in to it and waste 10 dollars. However, every now and then a surprise makes it's way past the garbage and gives us a blast of cinema pleasure. "Knowing" does just that. There are several scenes that stay with you.(Including an airplane crash and train derailment that are so astonishing and scary they have to be seen to be believed) Nicolas Cage, an actor who has made several really good fun movies, (The Rock,Con-Air) and some not so good,(pick one) plays a collage teacher who comes across a 50 year old piece of paper written by a child that predicted all major disasters in the world. The problem is the really big disaster on that paper has not happened yet. Now it's up to Cage to try and warn the world that the end is near. The makers of this film take an idea that has been done before and make it work to the max with clever writing and some really tense moments and awesome special effects that will leave the audience feeling they got their money worth, and remember." by jimaz on Mon Mar 23rd, 2009 1 Comments | Reply | Report"Knowing""Well first, it has Nicolas Cage in it, which makes the movie great, but what amazed me about this movie was the plot to it. It was a great idea with the numbers and the "whisperers." The special effets were amazing (and if you saw the movie you have to agree, plane crash). I reccomend to see this movie 100%. It really does keep you on the edge of your seat. Note: all of the info has no spoilers. All of the info was seen on the commercials Note: sadley, if there is a sequal, Nicolas Cage will not be in it" by chandlerkravitz on Mon Mar 23rd, 2009 0 Comments | Reply | Report |
