Synopsis: "After witnessing a murder involving a corrupt cop (Rosie Perez) and a drug kingpin (Gary Cole), straitlaced pothead Dale Denton (Seth Rogen) must go on the run with his dealer (James Franco, in a Golden Globe-nominated role) to escape the wrath of vengeance-minded criminals. Acclaimed indie director David Gordon Green steers this stoner buddy comedy, penned by Rogen and his Superbad co-writer, Evan Goldberg." "Pineapple Express""A Pot Head witnessed a cop commiting a murder and now is forced to go on the Run with his Dealer. This is a Classic Stoner movie, Just add it to your Collection of The Cheech and Chong Movies, Th Friday Movies, and Grass. Though this movie wasn't one of Seth Rogans Best, It still had me laughing. James Franco and Seth Rogan were great together. The Story line was great but i found that at some points it got a little slow, but the great one-liners would seemed to come at the right time and fix that. Over all this was a good movie, and If you are a Seth Rogan fan then you should definatly see it, because he hasn't failed yet. The movie stars Seth Rogen and James Franco as Dale and Saul who are two slacker potheads and they play the part to the teeth. They seem like they are being natural in their parts and together they are hilarious. The way that they play off of each other its like they have known each other for years. Well they actually have known each other for years because they were working together on the short lived tv show Freaks and Geeks. Freaks and Geeks was also produced by the producer of this film Judd Apatow. The third sort of main character is Saul's drug dealer Red played by Danny R. McBride and when all three of them are together it always get into a crazy set of events that make you laugh. Gary Cole is in this film as Ted Jones who is a major druglord who controls a police officer Carol played by Rosie Perez. Going into the theater I had no idea what the film was truly about because the trailers never gave me enough to work with to figure it out and I loved that. The film is about Dale who is a process server whose job is to go around serving people subpoenas all day. In between serving different people he smokes weed until he runs out and needs more. So now he goes to his dealer Saul who has a rare weed called Pineapple Express and sells it to him. As Dale is about to serve the last person he had to that day he witnesses a murder by a man and a police officer. So now he has to run and stay alive while they try to track him down. So without revealing any more of the film I just want to say it was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing from the opening sequence to the final shot. I haven't laughed so hard from a movie in so long. This is one of the best buddy action comedies I have seen in a very long time. I recommend this film for anyone looking for a good laugh at the theaters." by moviemantilidie on Wed Aug 13th, 2008 1 Comments | Reply | Report |
