Synopsis: "When his girlfriend, Summer (Zooey Deschanel), unceremoniously dumps him, greeting-card copywriter and hopeless romantic Tom (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) begins sifting through the year-plus worth of days they spent together, looking for clues to what went awry. As he recalls the good and bad times he spent with the commitment-phobic girl, his heart reawakens to what it cherishes most. Marc Webb directs this uncommon love story." "The movie is like spending 500 days in a rehab.""Not much here but another indie movie where guy wants girl, girl has problems, intrigues man. Yawn!" by gordokc77 on Fri Jul 29th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"My absolute favourite film.""I completely fell in-love with this movie. The story was brilliant, and told in such a beautiful, captivating way. The timeline was all over the place, yet it was still so easy to follow. Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel both played they're characters so well, I loved Zooeys character Summer in particular. My rainy-day film, I have watched it so many times, I know most of the lines off by heart! This film will make you laugh, cry, cringe, and want to fall in love all at the same time." by professionalopinion on Mon Jul 25th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Bad""I don't like it. Sorry, the actress is beautiful, but I don't like the story :(" by andin on Thu Dec 2nd, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report"A Good Romantic Comedy?""Let me start off with this, romantic comedies usually always suck. The main character is usually the girl, and she's usually dumb, blond, or both. But (500) Days of Summer was a unique addition to the romantic comedy genre. For one, the characters are easy to relate to. Another thing that separates this movie from other Romantic Comedies is it's actually funny. And not funny because it's bad either. My favorite part was the expectations/reality scene. I don't think anyone in the history of cinema has ever done anything like that. Before I saw this, a lot of people were saying it was snubbed at the Oscars, and I agree. It was a great movie, but a lot of times the academy doesn't pick the best movies. My suggestion is: If you are not an emotionless troll, see this movie." by myfajahas400children on Tue Nov 16th, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report"what a boring movie""i cant believe that i paid money to see this movie! it was that bad and boring that i didnt even watch it till the end!" by teddy44 on Sun Apr 18th, 2010 0 Comments | Reply | Report"(500) Days of Summer""You know how you see these billboards of a new bar with some radical name and the radio ads sound pretty cool so you think you’ll discover yet another home away from home until you get there and find the place is jacked full of yuppies, the drinks are overpriced and watered down, and not only is it ‘decorated’ but all the decoration is imitation English pub crap that came out of some Ikean nightmare? That’s where i found myself in this flick. What a disappointing Summer. Here i was expecting this nice indie film getaway and ended up at a run of the mill Motel 6 in the middle of the the suburbs. Basically what you have here is a package tour, emphasis on the word ‘package’. Because that’s all this movie is: marketing to the independent circuit. They get this cool poster and start a lot of buzz and spin it as a quirky thing off the beaten path when in fact it’s standard romantic comedy fare parked dead center in the middle of the road. Sundance my ass. i’d like to Sun-dance on their freakin’ graves is what. Just ranting about how they manipulated me into seeing this infuriates me and i feel like going up to the top of this review and ripping a star down, but that wouldn’t be fair to Zooey Deschanel, who turned in a neat performance. She did what she could to keep this film cutting edge cute but there was too much other crap holding it back, like the script. Like a narrator who rarely narrates, which is in fact a good thing because his lines come across as Pushing Up Daisies throwaways. Like scenes which are supposed to be ‘experimental’ but actually have all the originality of Applebee’s sports memorabilia. One pleasant surprise was the supporting role of Rachel, the lead guy’s younger sister, as portrayed by 12-year-old Chloe Grace Moretz. Her performance was solid, especially when considering her age. Keep an eye on her, she’s one to watch." by Al_K_Hall on Fri Oct 16th, 2009 0 Comments | Reply | Report"(500) Days of Summer""In a summer of high tech,FX garbage that Hollywood continues to shell out at us, its nice to see this clever little gem of a movie make waves with critics and audiences alike. Even with all the great strides that have been made with Hi-Def tv's,digital effects,Blue-ray etc,the quality of the product shown has hit all time lows. Where are the great writers? Does anybody do anything original anymore? And that's not only in film. Did I really see a "Britney Spears Greatest Hits" CD in Best Buy the other day. YIKES. Anyway, check out this wonderful film about young love gone bad. We've all been there. Boy meets girl. Boy falls for girl. Girl likes boy, Girl wants to have fun but does not want to get serious. Boy doesn't understand. What sets this film apart is a great cast and a different concept of telling the story going back and forth from flashbacks to present day to what is going to be. Great idea and it works. One of the best films I have seen this year." by jimaz on Sun Sep 20th, 2009 0 Comments | Reply | Report"(500) Days of Summer""Ummm I fell in love with 500 Days of Summer. First and foremost this was not my pick to go see when me and my bf went to the theaters, but I am glad we did. Joseph Gordon Levitt and Zooey Deschanel are brilliant in this romantic comedy that is not your run of the mill romantic comedy. I would suggest this movie to anyone because it has great quality and watchability." by jerrthemoviekin on Mon Aug 17th, 2009 0 Comments | Reply | Report"(500) Days of Summer""500 days of summer is the worst movie i have EVER seen. It is depressing, non- motivational, and i disagree with every word of it. It is the epitome of a suicidal movie. I used my optimum rewards card to go see it, and i would actually pay full price to have every trace of it completely erased from my memory." by xcraziecutiex on Tue Aug 11th, 2009 1 Comments | Reply | Report |
