If you've read the books or have young one who's done so, don't think the movie is going to light your fire. That's almost always the case in a book-to-movie transition, but DOAWK seemed to make that problem even more apparent. The book has its own illustrations, but the movie was actual live characters - with a few of the book illustrations added in. The result? As we were leaving the theater, one 10-ish kid said it would have better just to animate the illustrations from the book. Can't say I'd disagree...and it's probably what's kept the movie from being a BIGTIME hit."

"I am a mother of four boys ages 10 to 17 and have had to sit through many boring kid movies. I took 3 4th graders to DOAWK for a birthday because my 10 year old has read all the books and begged me to take him since previews came out. I hate kid movies. I usually get caught up with texting friends or clearing things off my phone. I was blown away by how entertained I was by this movie. I was laughing out loud from beginning to end. I insisted my husband take our three other boys to see it the next day. One of the best comedies I've seen in a long time. And clean. Hard to find that anymore. GO SEE IT TODAY! Mo"

"This was actually a very nice surprise for me filled with a lot of creativity. Based on the popular book series, the movie tells the story of a 6th graders life and his adventures through middle school, the movie is very relatable and fun to watch. There may be one too many gross gags here but the surprisingly talented cast of young actors helps out a lot. As I watched this movie, I got the same vibe as I do when I watch a movie like "The Goonies" or "The Sandlot." It's great to watch these kid actors react to each other and the movie just makes you laugh. It's one of the better family films I've seen in a while so try to check it out if you can."
