Synopsis: "Despite showing bravery on the job, a group of law enforcement officers find themselves undone when tragedy strikes at home in this social drama. With the aid of their Christian beliefs, however, the men find a deeper well of courage in their hearts." "As Star Wars was to Sci-Fi, Courageous might be....""Could Sherwood be repaving the way to a lost genre of movies made for people of faith? Given the audience response to Sherwood's movies (allowing Sherwood to recoup their costs multiple times over in every release to date), the audience has clearly stated its presence and demand for more. The next step is for the providers - more writers, more producers, more directors - to rise up and respond. I saw Sherwood's latest release, Courageous, and concluded two things: - the acting, story and dialogue had room for improvement - I did not bring enough tissues. So where Star Wars, with its clunky dialogue, etc. inspired a new generation of moviemakers passionate about the sci-fi genre, I hope Courageous inspires a new generation of moviemakers passionate about making movies for people of faith to inspire, teach and encourage with ever-increasing excellence. Hints for Hollywood: - Don't try to replicate a life of faith by what you observe on the outside. You will get the characters' motivations completely wrong. You must hire people of faith to implement this 'formula' accurately. - We don't all have fake southern accents. - Most of us have a sense of humor. In fact, after being in this niche for over 20 years, I've only met 8 people actually like the dad in Footloose. - However, our faith does change what we laugh at. But again, don't try to replicate this by observation, because only those living a life of faith authentically understand the correct formula for level of faith vs. level in change of humor." by joand123 on Mon Oct 3rd, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Setting a New Standard for Inspiration""The movie was fabulous. The humor throughout was genuine and timed so well. Kudos to the play writer for the amazing method of touching my heart so deeply. Oh how I wish I would have had this opportunity 20 years ago when my children were young. I called my son right away and told him to go see it WITH HIS CHILDREN SO THEY ALL WOULD 'GET IT". I hope every family gets the chance to see this life changing film. Sherry D" by deichmans on Sat Oct 1st, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report |
