Synopsis: "After moving into a new home, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and his wife Renai (Rose Byrne) confront terrifying tribulations when their son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) falls into a coma and his body suddenly begins attracting malevolent forces from a mysterious netherworld. Co-starring Barbara Hershey, Andrew Astor and Lin Shaye, this psychological horror film offers viewers a potent combination of tension and scares." "Great Movie!!!"""This was a wonderful movie" " The audio was fantastic" "jumped all the way thru it. Hope the make a part 2." by shytown1 on Thu Mar 29th, 2012 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Not bad for a horror flick""I am not a big fan of horror movies. A horror movie to try out." by jmpviper on Tue Feb 14th, 2012 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Very Good Horror Movie.""Heavy classic style movie that scared the daylights out of me. Although, if you happen to watch it a second time, the scaryness will be reduced in like 95%." by pengon on Sat Jan 21st, 2012 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Great, but not scary""I am not questioning the entertainment of this movie at all. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie all the way through and it was rather interesting and unique. It had a plot that seemed new to me and was rather refreshing. But as far as horror movies go this was not scary at all. I really enjoy horror movies and become rather scared often, but this movie didn't do this to me. This was a great movie but if you have the urge to sit down and get the crap scared out of you i would pick another." by NickFRates on Sat Jan 21st, 2012 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Horror Movie""It is easily one of the scariest movies I have ever seen in my life, but it features weak performances and just a weak premise and to add that a really questionable ending. I give this movie 59%." by allqualtiesmovies on Thu Jan 5th, 2012 0 Comments | Reply | Report"good""It was a good long movie I enjoy it, it made me jump and i think about some thing of it. It's Kinda Like A Remake Of Paranormal Activity Only A Waiste Of Time And Fake." by xiTzSAKYx on Wed Oct 12th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Half scared the life outaa me!""The makers of "Saw" and "Paranormal activity" come together to bring you "Insidious". Supernatural Horror directed by James Wan and written by Leigh Whannell. This Spooky Haunted House style story centres on a couple whose son inexplicably enters a comatose state and becomes an empty vessel for spirits in an astral dimension. I watched this film with my little sister the other night and I must say the first half was bloody fantastic, I was on the edge of my seat gripping my knees in suspense and my little sister was covering her face in pure fear and then the second half all got a little bit silly as if unable to live up to the extremely high standards of the first. It all starts with a family moving into a new home and at first everything seems fine . After a couple of days the eldest boy Dalton "Ty Simpkins" decides to take a wonder up to the spooky attic and has a simple fall while trying to turn a light on. His parents Josh "Patrick Wilson" and , Renai "Rose Byrne" rush to his screams but it seems he just got a bit of a fright and wasn`t seriously injured until his father tries to waken him the next morning to discover Dalton had slipped into a coma. Surely the fall he had in the attic couldn`t have caused this, so what could it be ? His parents have no idea as they struggle to find the root of his illness and the doctors are clueless as to what could have caused this as there are no signs of brain damage. After a few months and a series of tests the doctors allow Dalton to go home for his family to care for him whilst inexplicably he is still in a coma. Shortly after Dalton comes home the truly terrifying moments unravel and this creepy rollercoaster of jumps and thrills begins. Overall I think this film has elements of pure genius and if it wasn`t for the shaky second half and the some of the unappealing visuals it would have been one of if not the BEST horror movie ever made!!" by xXxMissChelzxXx on Thu Oct 6th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Great Movie!!""This had to be one of the most scariest movies i've seen in a long time!! The plot was SO incredibly stupid & unrealistic. I've seen just about every horror film made & this one was so very disappointing. I hate to give negative reviews, but I hope I'll save someone from wasting their time. I could have made a better film in my granny's basement!" by guehlstorf on Sun Jul 31st, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Terrific Classic Style Horror Film!""I had my doubts about this movie based on its trailer. It comes off as yet another predictable exorcist type horror film, especially with its corny movie tagline "Its Not The House That's Haunted". As it turns out its a pretty good film reminiscent of old school horror/thriller styles from greats such as Alfred Hitchcock and Rod Serling. The camera angles and music placement is totally Hitchcock and its simple creepiness is right up there with those old B&W "Twilight Zone" episodes by Rod Serling. I like the idea that the kid has this special power to astral project his spirit, but the best part of that is who the hell knows how to astral project, so he ends up in in 3 month long coma with demons trying to take over his soulless body. LOL. There where a few things that stopped me from giving this flick 5 Stars, like the low budget smoke machines and cheep Halloween costumes that were used in the Astral plane, the predictable ending, oh and also that character Elise. She seems to much like Tangina from the movie "Poltergeist", maybe they graduated from the same School of Paranormal Activity or something, anyway I was waiting for her to say "Goooo into the Light" but instead she said "follow my voice". Regardless its still one of the better supernatural horror films out there and a must see in my opinion." by JoePink on Thu Jul 14th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"This movie will have u sayin WTF?""IT WAS ENTERTAINING THATS NUMBER ONE. NUMBER TWO IT MIGHT HAVE U GO OMG, AND MAYB U MIGHT GET SCARED ONE OR TWO TIMES CUZ U DIDNT XPECT THAT TO HAPPEN...ITS NOT SCARY LIKE EXORCISM OR SOME SHIT BUT ITS VERY WATCHABLE!! AND I AGREE SOME PARTS WILL MAKE U LAUGH IF UR NOT SCARED AT ALL." by nysexiimami89 on Thu May 12th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Excellent Excellent Film""Holy bananas is all I will say. I thought Paranormal activity made me jump. Sweet mother of jesus this was worth the €9.50 to hand over to UCI cinema. My word this is one of those films that makes you jump & make embarrassing faces you can only make while watching a horror film. T his horror comes from the makers of Saw & Paranormal activity & dose not disappoint. The story goes as a young couple move into their new home. Rose Byrne (Renai) & Patrick Wilson (Josh) move into a new home with there three young children. After some strange happenings their young son Daton falls off a ladder & the weirdness amplifies from there. WOOOO SCARY The film starts to take familiar knocks & bangs that the usual horror film seen in paranormal activity thinking someone was breaking & entering. At this point my girlfriend say “thank god im not the man of the house” I just hope nothing goes bang in the night & some freak ain’t waiting from me. This film is well worth the watch & I would really recommend going to see it. It will make you jump, be tense & probably make some ridiculous faces throughout the film. Not to be missed. Not enough to scare me. Insidious was an okay horror film, it had a strange twist to it but it didn't give me that Spook i was waiting for. I enjoyed the special music appearance by Tiny Tim, it gave the movie a bit of some chill as to "whats going to happen next?", which was pretty cool...i thought. Some of the scare actors/actresses didn't put enough scare effort to scare the audience. In fact, It made a few audience laugh...including myself. I don't recommend this film to be spent only to watch for a few hours. Insidious is more of a film we must wait for to be on Sale for less than $5. Its a film, to watch over and still find it hilarious without even hating it. It has its WHOA moments, but not enough to stay awake for the remaining night. The Title speaks different for others but not enough to give it the Insideous experience we were expecting. Its an okay movie, to add to your collection. A movie you'll come across while browsing for something to watch on a late night. This film is in between for me. It's a dis and a like, but def. not a masterpiece." by Cheekster on Sat Apr 16th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"The Scariest Movie I've Ever Seen!""The mark of an amazing movie is sometimes that you never, ever want to experience it again; and that’s exactly how I felt as I left a screening of the new psychological thriller, Insidious. This film, from the creators of the Saw film phenomenon (ya know, back when it was both groundbreaking and brilliantly original), is one of the most aptly titled films I’ve seen in years. For those not familiar with the term it basically means to subvert from within in a malicious or malevolent way and that is precisely what this film does. It gets inside of you, grabs hold and relishes in every jump, every unnerving flash and every last moment of terror you have willingly invited yourself to experience. The story seems at first familiar, a family moves into a stereotypically creepy house with far too many loose floor boards and unoiled door hinges. After a brief time in their new home they discover that something is very, very wrong. Their eldest son falls into an unexplained coma and their stay at home mom begins seeing and hearing many unexplained and unexplainable things. From here on things get even stranger as the comparisons to past iconic horror films like Amityville Horror or Poltergeist end. I’m by no means an expert in the field but what I saw unfold before my eyes was something I hadn’t experienced before. Ignorance of what is to come is essential in truly experiencing this film so I won’t go into any details of the plot other than to say I was incredibly impressed with the originality of where they took this tale. In order to really appreciate this movie you have to be all in. If you watch this film passively or with preconceived notions or even with that, ‘go ahead and try to impress me’ attitude that so many people (particularly movie critics) have, you might as well just skip it because you won’t get it. This is a terrifying journey into a malevolent unknown that you must fully give yourself over to. I myself was sitting with my hands clutched to my clip board sinking deeper and deeper into my seat as the movie progressed. James Wan and Leigh Whannell are master filmmakers. There, I said it. They ushered in a new era in horror filmmaking with the original Saw and I believe they’ve done something similar for psychological thrillers with Insidious. They know precisely when to cut away, when to use jump cuts, when to ramp up sound effects, what the right music is at the right times and especially when to flash to a terrifyingly eerie smile. So many films lose their punch because they allow their shots to linger on what is scary for too long. Once something is brought into the light its power to frighten is significantly diminished. If you keep that shadowy figure hidden for the majority of the film you build a terrifying anticipation that stays with your viewer and these guys know exactly how to do that. The cast does a wonderful job of breathing life into these characters but don’t go so far as to pull focus away from the events surrounding them. In this instance I felt like these people were stand-ins for me, the audience member. Yes, they had their issues and their own character development but it wasn’t anything that made me feel detached from what I was watching. It was happening to me just as much as it was to them. The ever gorgeous, always desirable Patrick Wilson plays an ideal husband and dad without over doing the Superman aspects of his personality. He allows his character to be imperfect and fearful but through that creates a very believable protector that we’d all feel safe with. Rose Byrne does a great job of playing a modern mom who’s set aside her own goals for the good of her family but who doesn’t allow her sadness to ever touch her children’s lives. All-in-all they are the parents we all wish we had or could become. Wan and Whannell couldn’t let the movie go by without some kind of homage to the film that gave them their careers so watch for an impromptu drawing of jigsaw somewhere that will give you a smile. For me, any movie that can truly make me feel something has achieved a feat that is both unique and inspiring. My heart was still racing as I left the theater and I was in such a daze that I walked right past a colleague who called my name several times to no avail. I was completely invested in this viewing experience and I’m certain that that played a huge part in how affected by it I was. But going back to my original statement, as was the case with the Darren Aronofsky film Requiem for a Dream which messed with me in a completely different way, I won’t be rushing to see Insidious again anytime soon. BUT I will be recommending it to anyone who hasn’t seen it as perhaps The Scariest Film I’ve Ever Seen!!! Insidious is like 2 movies in one. The first half is a introduction to the family. Then the scary stuff starts. Their experiences start as they move into a new house. It starts out as little experiences like books moving, doors opening etc. Then the son Dalton falls off a ladder in the attic and goes into a so called 'acomma'. Now the events really start escalating. Figures are being seen, the house alarms are going off, and then, a bloody hand print on Daltons bed. The family finally has had enough and moves again. But as the ghostly encounters continue to happen at the new house, they decide to call in a psychic and her 2 goof ball assistants. This is when the second movie starts. The psychic tells the parents that Dalton is in some other dimension called 'The Further.' She also tells the parents about the fathers past experiences with a different, witch like demon only seen in photos taken of the father. The father then goes into 'The Further' to save Dalton before a demon possesses him . There he meets many strange demons including the one that haunted him in his childhood. Finally he finds Dalton all chained up and somehow, he magically gets the chains off but now he has to escape Dalton's demon, or, Darth Maul you could call him. But for some reason, the demon is extremely weak and they get away from him easily. As they get back to the house the father comes face to face with the Witch demon. He just tells her to "Go away" and she does, or so we think. The father and son get back into their bodies and regain consciousness. As the family is celebrating the return of Dalton, the father and psychic are talking. For some reason, she takes a photo of him and instead of seeing the father, we see the Witch demon that haunted him as a kid. He then strangles her to death. The last scene of the movie we see the mom, who finds the psychic dead. She finds the picture and finds out her husband is now a demon. She then confronts her husband and the movie ends." by sillywilly on Mon Apr 4th, 2011 2 Comments | Reply | Report |
