Synopsis: "James Franco headlines the reboot of the immensely popular Planet of the Apes franchise, a prequel which boasts cutting-edge CGI effects and a gripping story set in modern-day San Francisco, where scientists are conducting genetic research on apes. The evolved primates, including Caesar (Andy Serkis), develop advanced intelligence and revolt against being used as lab rats, unleashing a war for dominion over Earth." "A worthy Prequel""I am generally not a fan of prequels. To me prequels often scream of big corporate studios trying to squeze every last dollar out of a dying franchise. Imagine my surprise then with Rise of the Planet of the Apes which not only is a very well concieved and well written movie, but also a triumph of great CGI effects. The seamless CGI used in this movie is simply spectacular, oscar worthy quality and better than "gasp!" Avitar. Also, there is a very understated oscar-worthy performance by John Lithgow in this movie that sort of ties the motivations of the main characters together. I was quite plesantly surprised by how good the movie is- worthy of my Top 10 for 2011." by Drewbutt17 on Mon Apr 23rd, 2012 0 Comments | Reply | Report"great""{142}i love it great time for everything and this movie was beautiful sad but beautiful not alot to say but jumped out my seat good......" by dturner1833 on Sun Apr 1st, 2012 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Good but prefer the old planet of the apes..""This movie is a good action family movie. The sequel should be very interesting by the way this one ends. Andy Serkis as Cesaer (the Ape) was brilliant, one thing better than the film was watching how the film itself was made and filmed, watching the silent-exterior expressions of the ape, was like he was in your presence and a cold shiver of reality was a shock when the credits appeared on the screen. WATCH IT! ELizaJane <3" by ElizaJane on Sat Jan 7th, 2012 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Fantastic Movie""This movie was great. Even if you haven't seen the original "Planet of the Apes" series (which you should) this movie is still entertaining. The computer graphics are superb, the actors do a good job, and the movie does what it sets out to do. It delivers in nearly every department, except none of the human characters are interesting. All of them are rather bland or unlikable, but the apes are the center of this film, and you'll be rooting for them the whole movie. The action scenes are riveting and exciting and will keep you on the edge of your seat. This movie is definitely worth seeing and is very good, but not extraordinary." by allqualtiesmovies on Thu Jan 5th, 2012 1 Comments | Reply | Report"Surprisingly good sci-fi drama""The monkeys are taking over! When I saw the trailer for this movie, I thought it was a joke. This was the stupidest idea for a movie ever. This wouldn’t work for the same reason that a zombie movie were we see (slowly and detailed) how a zombie apocalypse would star, because it wouldn’t start. We have guns; moneys do not have guns, so it would be fairly easy to shoot the monkeys. The original movie also implied that apes slowly evolved beyond us, how do you cover millions of years of evolution in less then two hours and still make a good story? Fortunately this movie proved me wrong in a big way. They focus on how the “rise” of the apes starts, and only shows the very beginning of the uprising. This works surprisingly well. It’s about Caesar, the first of the super intelligent apes that has been treated with an Alzheimer’s treatment, and the super smart part is a side effect. Eventually he is put into an animal shelter rife with mistreatment turning the ape into a freaking Hannibal Lector. He breaks out, along with other apes in order to take over the world. This is one of the better character studies I’ve seen this year, and its subject is a monkey. It isn’t one of my favorite movies or anything; I’m just impressed how they were able to turn such a stupid premise into a solid flick and the best planet of the ape’s movie yet." by looneyman on Mon Jan 2nd, 2012 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Took me by surprise""I went to the cinema with very low expectations for this film, especially as the trailer didn't really excite me. However, I was completely taken by surprise at how great this film is. Not only are the visual effects spectacular but the story is properly developed with a satisfying conclusion. Andy Serkis's portrayal as Caesar is faultless and deserves every praise it gets. My only complaint with the film is Freida Pinto's role which is undeveloped and serves no purpose other than James Franco's brief love interest. This film has breathed new life into a franchise many considered long dead and is the surprise film of 2011. Potential sequels are welcome." by hancock90 on Wed Oct 19th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"HOLY CRAP THIS IS AWESOME""This movie is perfect. I was shocked to see ceaser speak two times in the film. So if you love sci-fi movies, you've got to see this one." by jacobatthemovies on Sat Oct 8th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Absolutley Fantastic!!!""Not a dull moment I loved this film from start to finish ! Definatley one of the best movies of 2011 if not of all time. James Franco was completely the star of the show and Andy Serkis did an outstanding job and unforgettable performance playing Caesar . This film had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through , With a simple but gripping story line with a few twists and turns along the way . The effects are absolutely superb and make one hell of a realistic movie, This inspirational movie captures your heart and opens your mind. With a fantastic ending that leaves this movies questions answered and builds hope and excitement toward a sequel. Watch this space… Rating: Absolute Classic ***** chelseasmoviereviews.blogspot.com" by xXxMissChelzxXx on Thu Oct 6th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"No need to Hail Caesar""Hollywood seems to think that a sequel (or any movie for that matter) with digital animation is a slam dunk. This one is an air ball. Nothing new here; affectionate humans, cute baby ape, sinister adults, apes revolt, ending is rather laughable. This repetitive plot has zero imagination. Based on the action at the end, the ending makes one wonder....Oh, I get it.... a SEQUEL. This movie (regardless of the hype) is a total waste of time." by bertlahr on Sun Sep 25th, 2011 1 Comments | Reply | Report"Very Entertaining""I thought it was very entertaining. Great story and plot. They left it wide open for a sequel which I hope they make." by MYworld on Fri Sep 23rd, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Not a remake""Just to remind everyone that this is not a remake of the originals." by keriamatah on Wed Sep 21st, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Pleasantly Surprised""I didn't really expect much from this movie, as I found none of the "Planet of the Apes" movies really lived up to the original. However I was pleasantly surprised. The story line was very good, and the special effects were amazing. James Franco was completely the star of the show, and Andy Serkis (the ape) did a truly truly magnificent job. I would suggest you see the original before watching this film, or you may not get some of the links. Overall a very well done movie." by professionalopinion on Sat Sep 17th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Horrible""This movie sux, don't waste your money!" by brown on Fri Sep 16th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Best Movie I seen so far in 2011""No dull moment. When I go to the theater's I don't like to read reviews and hear what people have to say. I like to have my opinion first before I hear everyone else's so I have nothing to expect. This movie was fantastic. Through the hole thing I felt like it was building up to something great, then it was the end. Great movie, great ending with a cliffhanger that leaves this movies questions answered, but leaves it so that clearly, there will be a sequel." by abrinjoe on Thu Sep 1st, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"good movie""The guy he kicked out his daddy then his girl friend gave him a present at the end a disease kills all the humans" by haeslkhe on Sat Aug 13th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report"Lots of hype""Once you see this movie, you'll walk away wondering why it wasn't in 3D more so than you did while walking in. The story is simple, the build up is simply slow...I never found myself on the edge of my seat. I think the 2001 version was better." by pstreeto on Tue Aug 9th, 2011 0 Comments | Reply | Report |
