I'm not really sure why they felt the need to make this movie. Maybe to boost Jaden Smith into the spotlight? At any rate, this movie is not very good at all. I'm a huge Will Smith fan, and I was very disappointed that he took on such a role. The storyline is decent, but executed poorly. CGI was the only bright spot in the movie. And the accent?!? Why?? Why Will Smith? Why?? If you're super bored and have nothing else to watch, pop it in, but don't make a point to see it.
There are only two characters in this movie. One is Will Smith who plays General Cypher Raige and the other is his real life son who also plays his son in the movie. I didn't like how Will Smith never got off the spaceship bed during the entire movie but the story was interesting enough to keep me watching. Good acting and a decent plot earns this one 3 1/2 starts.
Saw this a cpl months ago. Here's the deal. Will Smith used his star status to propel his son's.This had a lot of promise, but special effects, set design, wring, and pretty much everything in between is hampered by a simplistic plot, and obvious culmination.Too bad.I really think Will Smith needs a big movie these days.Worth renting, but you'll probably not pause it when u get up to go the bathroom.
