Nothing Special!

Reviewed by jmpviper

This movie wasn't horrible but it was far from good. Steve Carell did a good job like he always does. Wasn't a fan of the plot and the acting was just alright. Paul Rudd movies really are hit or miss. I don't think I've seen that great of one since 40 Year Old Virgin. This Is 40 was just a horrible film! Don't go out of your way to see this one. 5/10

Steve Carell is pretty funny in this film

Reviewed by chelano

Ok there is only one thing that makes this movie and it was Steve Carell. In this film he got to act really strange like his character Brick from Anchorman. His awkwardness and easy to remember one liners will have you laughing through most of the film. Two other actors do really stick out. Zach Galifianakis is also pretty funny, but on certain parts. A few scenes really had me laughing with him, but others were just ok. Jemaine Clement had a character that was really funny and every time he talked, I couldn't help but laugh. Now Paul Rudd had more of a serious part. He had a few funny scenes, but I wanted more. I didn't really care for him in this serious role. Stephanie Szostak had too many close up scenes of her talking and it really bugged me. There are many other small characters and they were just ok in my book. Ron Livingston was in the film, but did not have a big part. I wish he did because I wanted to see more of him. This movie ran about 2 hours long and that is too long for a comedy. Because of this, they tried to make a decent story and had some serious scenes. To me, that failed. They could of left a lot out and made the movie around an hour and a half. So overall, a decent comedy and will defiantly have scenes to talk about. But as for best comedy of the year. Sorry, it didn't cut it.

a great movie

This movie was amazingly hilarious. my friend and i laughed for most of the length of the movie and the crowd did the same. I think this movie for sure was the funniest movie of the summer so far. It was better the despicable me. Also Paul Rudd does not host the dinner. Paul Rudd was invited to the dinner and to bring a idiot for a promotion.
