A slave-turned-bounty hunter sets out to rescue his wife from the brutal Calvin Candie, a Mississippi plantation owner.
This amazing film was one of the best of 2012. Quentin Tarantino has done it once more! Jamie Foxx was definitely the correct choice to portray Django, and Leonardo DiCaprio as well as Christoph Waltz did extraordinary performances. Despite the disturbing violence and gory scenes that make up this well-written movie, it really did keep me at the edge of my seat, and captured my attention right from the beginning. Witty remarks were made throughout the film, but they did not fully entertain the audience. The dialogue was impressive, as well as the overall acting. The make-up and costumes were very fitting, and made the film even more believable. Django Unchained was an unforgettable masterpiece that will always be remembered.
First of all I will state this: I am not jumping on the band wagon when it comes to the acclaim of Django Unchained,It really is a marvel of a film.
If you have seen Quentin Tarantino's previous films you will know what to expect when it comes to this picture. Smart snappy dialogue, excessive violence,a killer soundtrack and unforgettable characters.
This is the story of a slave Django(Jamie Foxx),who is granted his freedom by the eccentric bounty hunter Dr.Schultz(Christoph Waltz). Schultz strikes a deal with Django to track down the Brittle brothers in turn to free his wife whom is being kept captive by the monstrous Calvin Candie(Leonardo Di Caprio).
The film possess a stellar cast, the beautiful Kerry Washington playing Django's lost love, and a brilliant return to form from Samuel L Jackson as Candie's grouchy but hilarious butler.
The cinematography is gorgeous, the soundtrack fitting every scenario perfectly,I could honestly not find any flaws with this film.
Oh and be sure not to miss the cameos by Mr.Tarantino and a few other well known faces.Enjoy and thanks for reading.
Didn't know much about this movie. I had heard mixed reviews. The other review on this website that talked about the graphic violence made me want to watch it more. As far as the brief nudity you see half a boob once which doesn't count to me as brief nudity. I agree that it is definitely not meant for children. It's a bit unrealistic with Jamie Foxx being practically unbeatable with a gun. The storyline was pretty good though. There was plenty of action and it wasn't all that funny. The only somewhat funny part is when a murderer gets sniped in front of his kid. Yes I know that many might not find that funny but the context of the situation made it humorous to me. Watch this one if you're more open to gore in your movies otherwise if you have a weak stomach I would skip this. 6/10
This movie is filled with violence (very graphic violence at that). Men might like it, but I as a female did not. Not only is there extremely graphic violence involved, but brief nudity, and extreme profanity throughout. I would not recommend that children watch this movie. This movie, to me, is a waste of time and money..
