He Got Game is a movie that people from all walks of life can learn to appreciate. Especially now-a-days with many athletes in the NBA coming straight out of high school, Spike Lee offers a look at the other side of this life. He Got Game is a handsomely constructed film that delves into the role that basketball plays in the relationship between an incarcerated father and his estranged son. I particularly impressed with Lee’s use of comparative shots that show us similarities between father and son. Jesus tries his hardest to distance himself from his father Jake, but we see that they are almost identically alike in a number of ways. This film is a must-see for any basketball fan.
