After escaping from kidnappers using makeshift power armor, an ultrarich inventor and weapons maker turns his creation into a force for good by using it to fight crime. But his skills are stretched to the limit when he must face the evil Iron Monger.
The first movie from Marvel Studios began with a huge bang thanks to its competent director and charismatic star. Robert Downey Jr. brought so much energy to this role it seems he was born to play it. Cocky and confident and struggling to make right what he believes he helped make wrong. I never read any of these comics, because I'm a DC man, but you didn't have to have read a thing to have fun with this movie. It both introduces its hero well and shows his struggles to change for the better to help the world. The chemistry with the entire cast was very noticeable and helped make the movie feel natural. Also, Jeff Bridges playing a bearded bald bad guy? Can't go wrong with that.

Robert Downey Jr was a perfect Tony Stark. Jon Favreau said in an interview that he did not want to make this movie cheesy because he is such a comic book fan. I give him props because he really did make a great movie. It had very small weak points which is why I did not give it a perfect rating. But the look, the feel, the image, the acting all fit together into a memorial comic movie. Which is hard to say about a lot of comic book movies. They really have to add something extra to make a great film package and that is what they did. They did not focus too much on the power of the hero, but the story which really helps. Terrence Howard was decent. Gwyneth Paltrow was pretty good and Pepper. Jeff Bridges made a perfect villain. This movie is a top for comic book movies. Great film.
