Jack the Giant Slayer is what happens when you take a great fable and turn it into a war movie. It's not a bad movie, but it's not your old story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Now there is an army of giants and the one ring.. ahem "crown" to rule them all. And Jack must save a princess as well. It's as if you were telling the story of Jack and the Beanstalk and threw in some LOTR and Sleeping Beauty action scenes.
Overall though I liked it. It was well done and entertaining even with the action twist.
