#8 Best comic book movie

Reviewed by heybuddymovies

This took the fun and energy of the first film and multiplied it by awesome. It had a great story of personal conflict over whether to be happy in your personal life or possibly using the gifts you have to sacrifice that life to save others. It was a enthralling story about true heroism to the point of one’s own sacrifice for others. The runaway train scene is one of the best in this genre and plays out well, setting up how much Peter Parker is willing to sacrifice to protect others. There was a great new villain played well by Alfred Molina, who you actually feel sorry for by the end of the film. It had everything, great pacing, good-looking sets, fine acting and a well-rounded story. Unfortunately, that would not be said about its sequel a few years later.

Spider-Man 2 stars Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker also known as Spider-Man, Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson, James Franco as Harry Osborn and Alifred Molina as Dr. Otto Octavius also known as the villianous Doctor Octupus and was released to the movie theathers on Wensday June 30, 2004.

So my mom, my little brother, my friend's older brother, my friend, my friend's mom and I went to the movie theather and paid and got our six movie tickets and our Popcorn and our drinks of Coca-Cola and we went into the movie theather and sat down in our seats with our Popcorn and our drinks of Coca-Cola and watched Spider-Man 2.

Story: The screenplay of Spider-Man 2 was written by Alvin Sargent and Ivan Raimi and developed by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar, David Koepp and Michael Chabon. The story of Spider-Man 2 in a small summary goes like this: Peter Parker (played by Tobey Maguire) is finding his double life increasingly difficult, precariously struggling to balance his crime-fighting duties as Spider-Man with the demands of his normal life, Peter often finds his personal life taking a back seat. He loses a job as a Pizza delivery man for Joe's Pizza owned by Mr. Aziz (played by Aasif Mandvi), struggles to maintain his physics studies taught by his physics studies teacher Dr. Curt Connors (played by Dylan Baker) at Columbia University, he is late for his job as a photographer for The Daily Bugle owned by the grouchy chief editor J. Jonah Jameson (played by J. K. Simmons), and faces financial difficulties to pay his apartment rent owned by his Russian landlord Mr. Ditkovich (played by Elya Baskin) and his daughter Ursula Ditkovich (played by Mageina Tovah). Even worse, he has become estranged from both his love interest Mary Jane Watson, (played by Kirsten Dunst) and best friend Harry Osborn (played by James Franco), and Aunt May (played by Rosemary Harris) is threatened with foreclosure. Harry, now head of Oscorp's research division, has invested in the research of brilliant scientist Dr. Otto Octavius (played by Alfred Molina), Peter's role model. To perform a sustained fusion experiment, Octavius has developed a set of artificially intelligent mechanical arms, which are impervious to heat and magnetism. Though the experiment overloads and becomes unstable, Dr. Octavius refuses to halt it, with devastating results: his wife, Rosalie Octavius (played by Donna Murphy) is killed; the neural inhibitor chip which enabled him to control the arms is destroyed; and the arms are fused to his spine. Unconscious, he is taken to a hospital to have the tentacles removed, but the tentacles kill the surgeons, and he escapes. Uncontrolled, the tentacles begin to corrupt Octavius' mind, playing on his vanity and ego, and he decides he must complete his experiment at any cost. J. Jonah Jameson names him Doctor Octopus or Doc Ock. During a party, Peter learns that M.J. is planning to marry J. Jonah Jameson's son, John Jameson (played by Daniel Gillies). Shortly after he loses his powers while web-slinging across town and his eye vision gets blurry, Peter questions if he could ever have what he "needs", a life as Peter Parker, which involves a dream vision of Peter's uncle and Aunt May's husband Uncle Ben Parker (played by Cliff Robertson), and resolves to give up being Spider-Man. Peter throws away his costume in a trash can in order to live out a normal life. But is he chosing the right choice ? because without Spider-Man around, crime in the city of New York City skyrockets and in an effort to finance his experiments Doctor Octopus robs a bank, rebuilds his experimental reactor, completes it, and needs one final item: the tritium which fuels the reactor. He goes to Harry Osborn for it, dangling him over the edge of the Osborn mansion balcony when he refuses. Harry agrees to give Doc Ock what he needs in exchange for capturing Spider-Man to continue avenging his father's Norman Osborn's also known as the villianous The Green Goblin's (played by Williem Dafoe) death. Doctor Octopus attacks the good people of New York City and endangers the life of Mary Jane, Harry Osborn and Aunt May. Peter must commit himself to the ultimate tests: to thwart his new arch enemy and to once again win the heart of the girl he loves before she gets married to J. Jonah Jameson's son, John Jameson. I thought the story of Spider-Man 2 was brillantly told.

Acting: Spider-Man 2 was the fouth movie we have seen with Tobey Maguire and the frist movie we have seen with Alfred Molina and the second movie we have seen with Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, J.K. Simmons and the thrid movie we have seen with Elizabeth Banks and the second movie we have seen with Bill Nunn, Ted Raimi and Rosemary Harris and the frist movie we have seen with Dylan Baker, Daniel Gillies, Elya Baskin, Mageina Tovah and Donna Murphy.

Tobey Maguire reprizes his role as Peter Parker also known as Spider-Man who is a Columbia College physics student, a photographer for The Daily Bugle and a superhero. Juggling these separate lives means he briefly gives up his responsibilities as a superhero in a moment of adversity.

Alfred Molina plays the role of Dr. Otto Octavius also known as the villianous Doctor Octupus who is a happy, smart, wise, and kind scientist and Peter's role model who goes insane after his failure to create a self-sustaining fusion reaction. Octavius is bonded with his handling equipment, four artificially intelligent mechanical tentacles becoming Doctor Octupus. These tentacles convince him to carry on his dangerous experiments no matter the cost, in memory of his wife who was killed in the fusion accident

Kirsten Dunst reprizes her role as Mary Jane Watson who is the woman Peter has loved since he was a child, yet he gave up the chance of being with her due to his obligations as a superhero. Since then, she has become a successful Broadway actress and model, and becomes engaged to John Jameson. She is angry due to Peter's failure to watch her performance in The Importance of Being Earnest, when everybody else close to her, even her abusive father, has seen it.

James Franco reprizes his role as Harry Osborn who has taken his father's position as head of Oscorp. He supplies Octavius with tritium for the fusion experiment, but when it fails, Harry falls into alcoholism and a desire to kill Spider-Man, whom he believes killed his father. Harry also becomes angry at Peter, believing he will not tell him who Spider-Man is, being the supplier of his photographs to The Daily Bugle.

J.K. Simmons reprizes his role as J. Jonah Jameson who is the miserly chief of The Daily Bugle who carries a personal vendetta against Spider-Man, whom he considers a criminal. When Spider-Man temporarily gives up, Jameson also begins to reconsider his opinion of the superhero.

Elizabeth Banks reprizes her role as Miss Betty Brant who is J. Jonah Jameson's secretary at The Daily Bugle and a longtime employee at The Daily Bugle. She is also a good friend to Peter Parker.

Bill Nunn reprizes his role as Joseph Robbie Robertson who is The Editor-in-chief at The Daily Bugle and and a close confidant of publisher J. Jonah Jameson, acting as a voice of reason in Jameson’s campaign to discredit Spider-Man. He is also more friendly and supportive of Peter Parker and a longtime employee at The Daily Bugle.

Ted Raimi director Sam Raimi's and movie screenplay writer and osteopathic medicine doctor Ivan Raimi's second brother reprizes his role as Hoffman who is a happy and kind employee at The Daily Bugle and Hoffman is a longtime employee at The Daily Bugle.

Rosemary Harris reprizes her role as Aunt May Parker who is the loving aunt to Peter, a widow of Ben Parker, Peter's uncle. She blames herself for his murder, but is still unaware of the circumstances surrounding it. Her house is threatened with foreclosure.

In addition to these reprisals, Spider-Man 2 introduces five actors who play and introduce five new characters,

Dylan Baker plays the role of Dr. Curt Connors who is one of Peter's physics professors at college, who reminds him to get his work done. He is a colleague of Octavius.

Daniel Gillies plays the role of John Jameson who is the son of J. Jonah Jameson, fiancé of Mary Jane and a national hero.

Elya Baskin plays the role of Mr. Ditkovich who is Peter Parker's Russian apartment landlord.

Mageina Tovah plays the role of Ursula Ditkovich who is a happy and kind girl next door who is the Russian daughter of Peter's Russian apartment landlord Mr. Ditkovich.

Donna Murphy plays the role of Rosalie Octavius who is the dedicated wife and assistant of Otto Octavius. She is sadily killed when Octavius experiment goes awry and the rest of the dazzling cast and all the acting from all the actors in Spider-Man 2 is brimming and certainly charming.

Direction: Spider-Man 2 is the second movie we have seen that was directed by Sam Raimi. Sam Raimi gives Spider-Man 2 a fantastic, fascinating new comic book look and feel and director Sam Raimi's direction as the director of Spider-Man 2 is clear with compliment confidence.

Visuals: The action scenes and the special effects and the visual effects that are designed by John Dysktra of Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus in the action scenes are colourful and impressive. Danny Elfman and Christopher Young create and compose some inspiring and new music for Spider-Man 2 and we really liked the message in Spider-Man 2 which is is "That sometimes to do whats right we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most, even our dreams" What a satisfing message.

Overall: As it turns out Spider-Man 2 was an A+ award-worthy, terrrific, thrilling and spectacular superhero movie sequel and we all really liked Spider-Man 2 and just like everything in Spider-Man was an award bargin with beaming beats, everything in Spider-Man 2 is sensational, exciting and exclusive with exhilaration, 5 stars excellent blockbuster superhero movie. Spider-Man 2 is the number 1 best movie of the summer of 2004 and the year of 2004. I give Spider-Man 2 two thumbs up and the score of 92 out of 100 and I hope you enjoy Spider-Man 2, so enjoy the movie, enjoy Spider-Man 2.

"Spider-Man 2 is rated PG-13 for stylized action violence and Spider-Man 2 is 2 hours and 7 mintutes long".
