Ah, Star Wars, that classic syfy series that we have loved for ages. Well, except when it is ruined by a poorly made prequel. We all know that the Phantom Menace was probably the worst starwars film, but why was this movie so bad?
First of all, the age group this movie was supposed to appeal to was confusing. At first, the movie seems to only appeal to an older audience, with references to tax problems and political issues, but as the film continues it seems to only appeal to children under eight as they include characters like Jar Jar and have Anakin as a eight year old boy.
My next complaint about this movie, is the lack of character develpoment. Many good and well-known actors appeared in this movie, but their characters were dull and boring. The two main Jedi in the film seem to have no personalities or show interest in their roles. IN addition, our main villian, Darth Maul remains a mystery character the whole movie. We are given no reason to really dislike this character or believe he is evil other than he looks angry, wears black, and has a red light saber.
Overall, this film could have been a lot better if a better story line was made, and better characters with real personalities were formed. The only things I really enjoyed in this film were the scenes on the different planets. The truth is I have no desire to see this film again.
