When an unexpected enemy emerges and threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins!
I first went to see this film in cinemas when it was first released and I am so glad I did, every single minute of the film was enjoyed and it was shot perfectly. The special effects used throughout the film are made so seamlessly that its hard to spot whether or not its CGI (Computer Generated Images) or practical work. Also throughout the film they're are so many different feelings for it. One minute it could be smooth and calm, then the next your smashed into action. Or it will be a deadly fight with something and it will end with such a great laugh. The film adds a lot of comedy into the film, but it works so well and the film keeps its seriousness through the entire length. The Avengers is such a pay off for the many years of waiting and build up for it from previous Marvel films such as Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Incredible Hulk. I did only watch the film once, but I will be sure to buy it on Blu-Ray as soon as I can. Because really, the best way to watch a brilliant film such as this is to watch it on Blu-Ray...
"MARVEL’S THE AVENGERS", The perfect recipe comprised of every iconic, universal savior: "The Iron Man" (Robert Downey, Jr.; "Captain America" (Chris Evans); "The Incredible Hulk" (Mark Ruffalo); "Thor" (Chris Hemsthorth) the Norse god of thunder and lightening, wields his anvil and fells countless villains. My favorites were "Loki" , the Norse god of fire and trickery (aesthetically, beautifully mendacious portrayal by Tom Hiddleston) and the "Black Widow" (red- headed, buffed, lethal combination of "Lisbeth Salander and "Evelyn Salt", Scarlett Johansson). The 220 million dollars spent on this visual extravaganza guarantees a good time for both audience and actors!
The Universe has finally offered up a reason why the TV series "Firefly" was cancelled, if not for that, Joss Whedon may not have been around to direct this one. It was AWESOME!!! I saw it in 3D, it was better than "Avatar", one of the only movies I've ever seen in a theater that was worth the price of the ticket, and it was worth every dime! Really great.
I'm a fan of all the marvel movies and The Avengers is one of the best.
The Avengers dispenses with backstory for all but Black Widow and Hawkeye. With whom we see just a glimpse into their past. For most movies this is usually the sign of a poorly written movie. The Avengers however, need no introduction. Even though it's the first in a series it is more like latest in a long sitcom. The downside is that you should really watch the previous movies (Ironman, Thor, Capt. America, and even the Hulk) to know the backstory and what is going on.
The bonus to relying so much on the previous movies is that you can get right into the action. The Avengers does an amazing job at just that. From beginning to end the action only stops to lead you into the next sequence. And did I say it's amazing? Easily one of the best Marvel movies to date.
Between all the fighting and lead up to fighting, we do get to see a small peek into what S.H.I.E.L.D. is really about. And they may not be as benevolent as they portray themselves.
Bottom line, see this movie!! But first do yourself a favor and watch the previous movies first, you'll enjoy it so much more.
Just watched this movie online. Everything happened way too fast in it. The Avengers are just brought together right away and there isn't much story behind it all. It would have been better if they would have put a little more story into how they came together instead of them getting a phone call or visit from someone saying "hey lets go". Scarlett Johansson wasn't all that great in it either. She doesn't play a very convincing hero at all! She is in it for sex appeal and that is about all that she is good for. Like with every super hero movie the extras were pretty bad. Another great performance by Robert Downey Jr. though. All in all I bet that there will be a lot of people giving it a 5/5 or a 10/10 but that definitely isn't accurate. A 7/10 is much more believable.
