George Clooney has redefined the word action by making this thriller piece. Also the fact that there is a growing disliking and negativism being spread about prostitution has been dealt beautifully. the calm italian countryside and ruthless nature of a hitman's job(the two opposites) are really fun and exciting to witness at the same level. bravo george thank u for this. please keep up the good work and give casinos a little break.
"lately George Clooney has dissapointed me, but this movie was the tip of the iceberg... He is a great actor; yet i don't understand why he is accepting roles such as the one in this movie.. there was hardly any talking let alone action... this to me was more of a porn film than a thriller. I am dont recommend this film to anyone, i hesitated to give it a star... i dont believe it deserves any.
trouble is, all the stuff they thought it was filled with, isn't there. There are certainly many many shots of George Clooney. Close-up. Concerned. Worried. Tough. Etc. etc. Some nice shots of Italy. 2 young babes with George Clooney, and a bunch of T & A, Oh, this is a guys' flick? Sorry I watched.
I know - let's take a pointless, boring short story and make it into a full length movie. Having seen "The American" it is safe to say this has been accomplished.
Apart from that the only criticism I have is over the audio which is very difficult to hear over all the snoring.
Not what you would expect from a big Hollywood name like George Clooney. An interesting and restrained film: beautifully shot and paced. If you were expecting Oceans 11 you really got a surprise. Based on the polarized reviews I supected that this might be something special. It was. Cudos to director Anton Corbjin and producer Clooney. Thanks for not giving in to the pressure to do something predictable.
The WORST movie I have ever seen. There was no obvious plot. The clip on TV showed an action film, that must of been the climax at the END of the movie. We walked out after 1 hour and 10 minutes. I did not review this movie before and unfortunately took my kids 14,18 and 20. I was shocked at the display of sex allowed in this movie. I will not view another George Clooney film. This was simply trash. My child commented, "The money it took to make this movie could have fed thousands of starving children". What a disappointing movie.
I was angry when I left the theater that I had spent the money and the time on this one. My wife is a Clooney fan and she fell asleep. Maybe they should pull the movie and actually write a script, and maybe do a little character development.
If you like James Bond on thorazine(sorry James but thats all I could think of), 20 minutes of dialogue crammed into 105 minutes, a couple minutes of stupid sex scenes, a dash of mystery theater with a sprig of Forrest Gump topping it off - then this is the movie for you.
