A Great Prequel to a Great Trilogy.

Reviewed by ivory919

I found this prequel exceptionally good. At first, the beginning of the story is a little slow, but overall the story was interesting and adventurous and was perfect to the setup of the next two movies. However, I was somewhat disappointed that the filmakers decided to split The Hobbit into three movies. While I understand that the book was very long and contained a lot of vital events in the story, I felt that it could have been shortened into at least two movies.

I enjoyed both Bilbo and Gandalph as the main characters, and thought the dwarves were a pleasant addition to the journey. I still believe that the LOTR films will always be the best films regarding this story, but the Hobbit was an enjoyable movie for any fans of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

A Great Adventure!

Reviewed by Banditsmom

I'm not sure if all those other reviews were from people who saw the same film as I did! This long anticipated movie was everything I expected from Peter Jackson and more! I kept waiting for the boring parts to begin, but they never did! I was absolutely delighted to be in the company of some of my beloved LOTR characters & places again....Bilbo, Gandalph's wise & calming voice, Frodo's blue eyes, Elrond & the idyllic elves, the wonderful shire, and those gruesome Orcs, etc.

Not only is there humor, but lots of adventure & thrills on this "Unexpected Journey"! I found myself on the edge of my seat for much of the movie because we saw it in I-MAX, 3-D. I loved every single minute of THE HOBBITT!

Didn't live up to LOTR!

Reviewed by jmpviper

Sorry Peter Jackson but this attempt at another movie based on the LOTR was somewhat of a failure. The Hobbit didn't keep you entertained nearly enough when compared to the originals. The characters weren't that great. All the dwarves seem like the same person and only half of them seem to have any lines at all. One thing that was irritating *spoiler alert* is that none of the dwarves died. Atleast we had one of the characters in the fellowship die in the original. This helps to develop the plot and further enthrall you in the story because you are wondering who could be next. This just leaves me thinking that everyone is going to make it and that is a major disappointment because in that situation most likely there would be casualties. If you're a LOTR fan check this out. Even if you're not I guess that it's worth a watch. For those fans though don't expect to see a film that's better than the original trilogy! 5.5/10

I'm not sure these film critics know what the heck their ding anymore are they afraid to voice their real opinions or are they paid to just promote all the movies and tell you their all good?
