A drama set in 1986 Iran and centered on a man, Sahebjam (Caviezel), whose car breaks down in a remote village and enters into a conversation with Zahra (Aghdashloo), who relays to him the story about her niece, Soraya (Marnò), whose arranged marriage to an abusive tyrant had a tragic ending.

After watching this film, I was filled with a combination of rage and sorrow. The injustice portrayed in this brilliant film should stir in us a desire to bring change. Let us stand together to protect and respect the women in our lives who are suffering because of abuse.
Agree with most of you here. The film was a very surreal experience. Women's rights have been abused in Iran for years. I have a friend who has experienced it first hand. I just wish there was more awareness over this issue. Can't wait to see how other filmgoers respond to this film and how it illustrates the brutal reality of what's really going on there. Powerfully moving...great acting all around and the final scene especially will hit you very hard. Check this one out.
It's one of the most controversial films of the year...
An innocent woman was unjustly assassinated and there is one witness who refused to be silent in the midst of a village who would stop at nothing to keep the secret within their walls. Her only hope to get the truth out is a journalist who visits the village and must escape with the story.
I really recommend it! Remarkable.
