Sadly, no originality...

I wasn't a huge fan of John Carpenter's original production of 'The Thing' but i did appreciate the undeniable originality of the picture. Few stories are this out-of-the-box but this remake did very few new things. Sure, they utilized state-of-the-art graphics and computer generated effects but guys, in 1982 we saw Carpenter's version of 'The Thing'. Show us your version of it! Do you not think something could have been done better? That some new scenes could be added? That some scenes we've known for 30 years could have been omitted? Did you not have your own take? Evidently not. Pretty people in a pretty setting with a good story, poorly executed. Next time, give us something we haven't known for three decades.

Awesome thriller

Reviewed by Evie

This movie is the most thrilling movie I have ever seen, and the first alien movie I have ever seen. I have screamed twice during this movie, which I never scream during scary movies. The movie was very consistent and suspenseful. *Spoiler* They didn't mess up who was the alien and who was not an alien like some other movies I have seen. Kurt Russel was superb in that movie. He portrayed the character very well. Like how he was a very logical man and had some sort of a dark feeling about him, but reacted well to the situations that he was unfortunately put in. You have to really keep up, however, on what is happening and has happened in the movie. This movie keeps you waiting till the end and thinking to the end. Overall this is one of those movies that can really get you into the sci-fi thriller movies. After watching this movie, I went on to watch War of The Worlds (2005 with Tom Cruise), and many other sci-fi thrillers. The best conditions to watch this movie to get the full affect is: At night, all of the lights turned off. If it is snowing, that makes even more of an affect. If you are watching this movie on a mountain, while it is snowing, it gives you the greatest affect of the movie.
