It Is the Best One!

Reviewed by jmpviper

Now I know that hardcore fans of any movie trilogy or saga always say that the new one of a movie is the best one (Star Wars is a perfect example) but this is not the case in this situation. I do not consider myself a big Twilight fan. The first one was the best one and the ones that followed were just alright. I went to see this in theaters since it was the last one. I was surprised by how good it was. It starts off pretty slow with them just getting ready for the Voltri. The ending was for lack of a better word, perfect. Most movies like this their ending is pretty horrible and leaves much to be desired but this one did not. It'll surprise many if you haven't heard how it ends already. This is one that you should go see on the big screen. 8/10

Best Twilight Ever!

I'm a big fan of the series and this is definitely an epic conclusion to the saga! This movie is perhaps THE best book-to-screen conversions I've ever seen! True to the book and a delight to watch!

Why do I torture myself?

Reviewed by satiresiren

Ugh. I really don't know why, after seeing the other films in the Twilight series, I continue to go and expect something better. I'm a masochist, I must be. I started to list all the negatives from this film from special effects, script adaptation to the acting but there is not enough room. Here are a few examples of where the movie goes completely off track (and NOT in a good way) from the books; Book Edward was so much more confident, calm cool and collected -thats half of what made him hot, the other half could have been accomplished had a few more coins for special effects been spent making him and the other vamps look powerful and immortal. Cheap studio execs. Next, Jake was not a pretty boy in the book- its also kinda essential he grows from like 5'6 to 6'8 in a short amount of time...couldn't you have at least had him walk on planks like in the green mile? Bella- Kristen looks like her but acts, well...she doesn't act and thats the problem. Whats she going to do when as a vamp she can't use her lip biting as her entire emotional acting arsenal? Don't get me started on the rest. To the casting gods- here's a great switch-a-roo that would've looked good on your resume; take the guy who played "james" in the first movie and make him "jasper", take the guy who plays "Dr. Cullen" and have him play "James" in the first movie. See? Didn't cost a dime to do-just a little thought and effort. Try it next time.

Breaking Dawn, Breaking Expectation

Reviewed by forhomework1

Adventurous and highly unrealistic romance of The Summit Entertainments trilogy, Breaking Dawn, has placed itself well within a majority of females as a heart throbbing movie. As a female, who could easily resist the good-looking, romantic, wealthy, smart and muscular men? Besides, these men can do anything for you immortally! Yes, these perfect men, though they are not real human beings, do exist in the Twilight! With this ideal background, the Summit has produced wonderful marketing trailers which attracted viewers by revealing bits of charming scenes. The set-up and marketing work have been very successful as it attracted many to buy the movie tickets yet the production of The Summit and acting of gorgeous actors and actresses could not meet the high expectations set up within the viewers.

To summarize the previous film, Eclipse, which ended just before the main actress, Bella (Kristen Stewart) chooses her vampire boy friend, Edward (Robert Pattison) for marriage over her long time wolf friend, Jacob (Taylor Lautner). How similar this is to every teenager girls dream, being able to pick the only one out of two equally attractive men! With the love developed from the previous three films of Twilight, I could not wait until November 2011 to watch the fourth episode, Breaking Dawn. So, instead of waiting for more than a year until the film is released, I could not help but read a book to fulfill my curiosity and yes, my fantasy. Perhaps, this was not a very smart idea.

When you read, you have a privilege of extending limitless imaginations based on your own past experience. Expecting 110 minutes long movie to show what 700+ page book covers, was perhaps too greedy. During the movie, the preparation of wedding consumed one third of the entire movie whereas there was no explanation of how story continues to develop. The story jumps here to there, leaving the viewers confused and to do their own homework of connecting the plot. For example, when Jacob was communicating with his clan members through his mind, there was no symbol or message of how they are connected to each other. If I had not read the book, I would question if Jacob could read peoples mind like Edward. In addition, when Bella was transforming into a vampire at the end of the movie, there was also no description of what she was going through. If there was a narration of her voice at least, it would definitely allow viewers to understand what she was experiencing.

Moving on to critique acting of main characters to explain how confused I felt along with others, Bella and Edwards emotional expression was not expressed well either. Through their rigid acting and sometimes toneless voice as if they were reading the script, I just had to assume that they were in serious or urgent situations. Their appearances offered viewers a great pleasure, but their inabilities in conveying emotions to the viewers also offered uncomforting feelings as well.

Breaking Dawn had snap shots of beautiful scenes just like trailers. However, showing only pretty scenes of a few events with stunning castings but without proper production and acting will produce only a disappointing movie. If you only want to entertain your eyes, not your mind, with romantic movies with stunning characters, I would recommend you to watch the movie. Otherwise, just grab the book. It will do you better.

More of the same

I've seen all the movies but never read the books. I'm a movie buff so I watch whatever is new. So she gets married and then pregnant. That is pretty much what the whole movie is about. It takes until the last half hour for anything remotely exciting to happen. If I hadn't seen the others, this movie probably would have got a lower rating than it did. Overall if you're a fan of the series then watch it.
