But Mike's luck turns fast when his cousin is killed and his best friend is arrested for the crime. Based on 17-year-old Nick McDonell's acclaimed 2002 novel, this gripping drama also stars Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, Kiefer Sutherland and 50 Cent.

You have to see this movie !;)
The movie twelve is directed by Joal Schumacher and deals with drug addiction, violence and sex wealthy Manhattan teenagers. Also the movie is issued in the USA in 2010.
The main character in the film is White Mike which is a very successful drug dealer, since his mother died. He never take drugs or something like this but he sells a lot of this. White Mike does not want to sells the drug twelve because it is a very dangerous drug. Also his girl friend Molly does not know about Mikes real life.
The movie shows a lot of addicted teenagers and there problems. At the end of the movie every think get out of control!
I think it is a good joys to see the movie because the movie is much easier to understand than the novel.
A positive aspect for this is, that the characters feelings getting much clearly in the Movie. Joal Schuhmacher creates this with the atmosphere and the camera movements. In a lot of moments he choose the extrema close up to show the feelings in the characters faces.
One negative aspect is that the novel have more details and some scene get more clearly with the details.
Also the shoos of the accouters are very good. The actors present the characters of the book very well and shows there emotions very good.
To sum it up I would say that the film is worth seeing and maybe it is a good way to show teenagers how dangerous drugs are ;)
The movie "Twelve", directed by Joe Schumacher is about drug addicted teenagers who have many problems in their social life. It is based upon the novel of Nick McDonnell which was written in 2002. In the following part I want to give a short review for the movie. For this I will focus on three different themes of the movie.
On one hand there is the drug addiction which is a very important aspect. It creates a serious but also interesting atmosphere. But it also brings out how dangerous it is to take drugs by showing different situations in which teenagers do bad things. They sell themselves for getting drugs or they get very violent.
This is another aspect I want to focus at. There is much violence caused by drug consume. For this reason it not very suitable for little children. It makes the movie very exciting but for those who aren't interested in all this action it could be too much.
Another interesting aspect is the friendship between some protagonists. It is part of the main story and in my opinion it's the most important and interesting aspect because it shows the sensibility of the characters. Because of this fact the film doesn't seem to be superficial.
All in all Twelve is a very interesting and watchable movie. It contains many themes which causes a different atmosphere than other movies but also a very exciting and absorbing one. I can really recommend it.
The movie "Twelve" by Joel Schumacher deals with drug addiction, violence and sex among teenagers. It's a movie version of the novel, which was written by Nick McDonell in 2002 with the same title. The main character White Mike sells drugs to young people from the Upper Eastside in New York. But suddenly the new drug "Twelve" appears and will change every behaviour of the characters, who loves to make partys and go out on a limb.
Joel Schumacher tries to introduce al lot of themes like "party", "drug addiction", "teenage problems", "sex/love" or "violence" and he has the power to combine every theme with the others. So the viewer has the chance to connect the themes and to realize what the story is about. Also the viewer can differentiate every act of the characters, so he has a good overview.
Secondly, the movie is easier to understand as the novel. I had seen the movie before I took the book, and I would call the movie as a great summary of the book, because only the important acts and thoughts of White Mike and the other characters are shown. In the book are so many characters you don't need to know. Besides Joel Schumacher decides scenes from the book, which are necessary for understanding the story. And he did a great job, I think.
Lastly, I think the decision of the actors is great. After I watched the movie and took the book, it was easier to combine a character with a real person. And the persons, who play the role of each character, had play it well!
In sum, I would say that Joel Schumacher had made a good movie, based on a novel. He only takes scenes which show the whole story and makes the viewer understand. Also, he choosed actors, who are qualified to play such a difficult role. All in all, the director made a good job and I like the movie.
The movie "Twelve" by Joel Schumacher is a film about the new drug: "Twelve", problems in teenagers life and drug addiction. The main character White Mike becomes a successful drug dealer after his mother's death. Fast he gets better and is a really good drug dealer. But his friend Molly does not know anything of it. In the film there is a lot of violence, hatred, and family problems. Some characters embody this. The film takes a surprising twist and suddenly the director shows how dangerous teenagers behavior could be.
The main theme of the film is a very interesting theme. Drug addiction is in our society a general problem. But nobody wants to talk about it. Joel Schumachers idea that drug addiction becomes the focus of attention is good implement. He captures the misbehavior of the teenagers exacting.
A bad aspect of the movie is that you cannot understand the movie if you haven't read the book before. It's a difficult theme. For example all the characters who are in the book, like Molly, Sara, Chris or White Mike. The film has not so much information about all their lives. Joel Schumacher leave out all those things and focus on the drug addiction.
A good aspect of the film is that there is a good beginning and ending. You can see how the story between Molly and White Mike goes on. The music supports this. It counteract the feelings. When the characters feel happy, there is a nice music. When there is a lot of violence the music is scary.
All in all the film is really good. But after you watch it, you have to know more about the main problem and about the characters. The film is livelier as the book and not boring. When you watch it, you cannot stop watch it. It is too interesting. The end is a bit dramatic, but the end is the climax of the action. The film "Twelve" is very watchable!
The film 'Twelve' directed by Joel Schumacher is a drama based on the novel by Nick McDonell which was published in 2010 with main actors like Chace Crawford (White Mike), Emma Roberts (Molly) and 50 Cent (Lionel). The movie deals with teenage problems and drug addiction on the Upper East Side.
I think the movie is better presented than the novel because it is easy to watch and understand because of the narrator who tells a lot about the main character White Mike and what happens during the film and because the film is devided in week days from Christmas to New Year's Eve.
In addition the movie is very realistic. I like that it shows the real situation of some teenagers in New York, the costumes are realistic and also the drug deals so you can easily follow the movie. Also the director chose many different film devices which make everything more realistic.
Furthermore it is interesting that there are many different characters. First it is a bit comlicated to understand who is who and who is shown at which moment but during the movie you get to know more about the main characters and so it gets easier to see and understand the different stories and problems of the different characters.
Unfortunately there is a negative aspect. The story is not that exciting and a bit one-sided. There are just a few different themes and the end is too obvious, so the story could be a bit more exciting but then it would be more difficult to understand and follow.
So all in all I liked watching the film and I would watch it again because the director has done a great job and it is not that bad that the end is not presented exciting.
The movie ‘Twelve’ produced by the director Joel Schumacher deals with teenage problems and drug addiction. The setting is on the Upper East Side and mostly about a big party with drugs and alcohol that ends in a shootout.
Twelve is about the 17 year old White Mike, who is a drug dealer and sells the new drug twelve. The movie shows the problems with drugs on the example with a girl called Jessica. In the movie is the situation being drug addicted really well presented. For example when Jessica needs money from her mother to buy twelve or when White Mike is selling drugs secretly from Molly.
An exciting way to tell the story of White Mike is the narrative telling from a narrator. Because of the narrator the thoughts of Mike are well presented. As a result the viewer could understand more about his behavior.
But the whole movie is only about the big party at Chris’ house and the problems with drugs. I think that it would be better, if the director had used other places or settings.
All in all I like the movie, because the director shows in an interesting way the problems with drugs. For example the problems with the family and the friends are shown. Another good point is that the acting of the actors is really good. As a result the viewer watches the whole movie in an excited way. An example is the scene where Jessica takes the first time twelve and the effects, the positive and negative, are shown. There also are good cinematic devices. The emotions are for example supported with close ups or the setting is descripted with long shots.
To sum it up I like the movie, because I am interested in the theme of the movie. Another point is that the story is well presented and supported with camera settings.
The movie twelve is about a drug, which is called twelve. White Mike is a dealer, who sells this drug. The movie takes place in New York. The teenagers with are living there are always on parties and have many money to blow. The most important characters in the movie are White Mike, Molly, Jessica, Lionel, Sarah and Claude. Sarah is a girl, which wants to be famous, so she plans a party. Her only problem is that she needs a location, where she can invite many people. So she asks Chris for having the party at his house, when the parents are not there. When Mike gets to know that his cousin Charlie got killed, he runs to the house of Chris, where the party is. There he sees Lionel, another dealer, with the gun of Charlie. That is the reason why White Mike thinks that Lionel killed Charlie and he gets very angry. Then everything happens very fast. Claude, the brother of Chris, shuts down many people. When the police arrive Claude also gets killed. So at the end of the movie many people are death. Now I want to explain why I like the movie or not.
Firs I think that the director made a good job because he choose the most important scenes and good cinematic devices to underline the happening. He focused on the most important thinks. He shows good the drug and its effect. He underlines the drug frenzy by showing the scene very fast and loud. While this the camera is wobbling. An example for this is, when Jessica takes drugs and runs throw the room and then laughs while she lies on her bed.
The next point is that he shows the relationship between the parents and their children. The parents pay much money for the schools of their children. They do not know many about their children and let them often alone and do not often talk to them. The relationship between the parents and the children is very bad. In the movie this is shown in different scenes. I want to explain this by one example. When Jessica do not have enough money to buy some drugs she goes to her mother and asks for some money. That is the only reason why she talks to her mum. But the mother is not interested in the problems of her daughter and just tells her to go to a shrink. That shows that the mother wants other people to care about her daughter. So I think that the director supports the relationship good by this scene and the others.
Another point that I want to mention is the end of the movie. I thing the way like it is presented is good and also that you expect this end because the scenes before foreshadow this. But I do not like the end of the story because so many people get killed. And at the end are so many people death. Some of them get killed at the party and some like Charlie before. But on the other hand that shows the problems, which are associated with drugs.
So all in all I like the movie because of the way the theme is presented and the effects that underline this. The theme drugs is interesting and shown good. I think the movie describes the story of the book very good and does not chance too much. The end gets expected because other scenes foreshadow the violence of Claude. Also the end is presented well, although so many people die.
Film review: Twelve
The film "Twelve", from Joel Schumacher which appeared in 2010 is based on the book "Twelve". The screenwriter is Jordon Melamed and Harry Gregson-Williams looks after the music. The main actors are Emma Roberts ( Molly), Rory Culkin (Chris), Chase Crawford.
White Mike, a high school dropout, is one of the best drug dealers in the Upper East Side of New York. Teens are dealing with drugs and daily life problems, causing the death of White Mike’s cousin. It’s all about drugs, love, sex and murder.
One positive aspect is the choice of actors in the film. The actors represent the characters from the book really well and they express magnificent spectacle. The best thing about this film is Chace Crawford's portrayal of young drug-dealer named White Mike. In the scene with Jessica and Lionel, for example, Jessica plays her role convincing she shows her feelings by changes of facial expressions. And Lionel appears only by his aura and expression dangerously.
But one negative aspect is the designing of the end. It is boring because all the people die but White Mike and Molly survive this brutal act. Also that Claude dies. The end is too obvious and I don’t like the creation of it. There has to be more action in it but there was still Claude and shooting all around without a special reason.
Another negative point is the predictability of the whole film. There is no “WOW”-effect. No inscrutable scene ore something like this. The movie is also one sided. Only Parties, Drugs, Sex and teenage problems, a complete normal, no especially interesting film. But the idea behind the movie is successful because it clarifys the problems with drugs and that money isn’t all.
So all in all the film doesn’t interest me a lot but it was not the worst film I ever saw. But I wouldn’t watch it twice. But for an English lesson it is a really good film, no boring historical film. So I think it was ok.
Film Review: Twelve
The film 'Twelve' directed by Joel Schumacher is a drama based on the book from Nick McDonell. It got published in 2010. Jordan Melamed is the screenwriter an Harry Gregson-Williams was in charge of the music. Main actors are Chace Crawford (White Mike), Rory Culkin (Chris), Phillip Ettinger (Hunter), 50 Cent (Lionel), Billy Magnussen (Claude) and Emma Roberts (Molly).
One big blemish is the variety of locations. After you watched the film you try to remember more than just one location, but you can't. You got that dark and grey background stuck in your head.
Additionally the whole film is strongly one sided. Maybe it's like this on purpose, but if you want to create an astonishing film you have to put more variety in it. In this one it's all about this special drug and this one big party and the rest of the story is built around these two particular topics. After watching a while you have the desire to see something different.
But what's really good, though, is the narrator. That's a really unique idea that is rather rarely found in movies. The narrator is Kiefer Sutherland whose voice suits perfectly to the mood of the film.
All in all it's a very average movie to watch. You should always combine this film with the book. Always a very good idea to do this in school
The movie “Twelve“, which is directed by Joel Schumacher in the year 2010, deals with the problems of rich teenager of the upper east side, who take drugs and do parties. It is the film version of the novel “Twelve” of Nick McDonell. In my opinion it is advisable and the director Joel Schumacher turn the novel great into a film. In my opinion a great job! :) In the next paragraphs I will explain why I think that it is worthwhile film.
Firstly the film have got very nice actors like Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, Kiefer Sutherland and 50 Cent. I think that they play their roles very trustworthy and realistic.
I find the story very interesting, because it shows the bad and dangerous sides of this lifestyle. The kids take drugs, do lot of parties, have sex... They do everything to get this great feeling, when you use this new drug twelve.
But one point is in my view a bit complicated, the story have good a lot of characters. It is very difficult to have the overview of the plot. But the narrator helps to understand the course of the story.
To sum it up the story have a very interesting and dramatic structure, you can see the bad and dangerous side of drugs. It is a film with very good actors and a interesting content.
All in all a worthwhile movie, but watch it and make your own mind!!! :)
