High school dropout White Mike (Chace Crawford) is living large as a dealer of weed and an Ecstasy-like pill called Twelve to rich teens in New York's Upper East Side. But Mike's luck turns fast when his cousin is killed and his best friend is arrested for the crime. Based on 17-year-old Nick McDonell's acclaimed 2002 novel, this gripping drama also stars Emma Roberts, Rory Culkin, Kiefer Sutherland and 50 Cent.
The movie „Twelve“ is the film version of Mc Donals novel.the director is Joel schumacher. The movie shows teenagers promblems with drugs and their parents. The movie is easy to see and understand. Also very pulsating. In my opinion the movie is better filmed than the novel ist written.
First, the movie ist very realistic. Nothing is disproportinal like in a action film. Besides the movie shows of every character a real problem for example some are drug addicted an other one live in sadness, and an other girl has problmes with her mother. Futhermore the viewer gets the felling like he also is playing in the movie.
An other point ist, that the main cahracter white Mike is connected with all other charcters and every time he is the main person. So the viewer sees which impects his behavior has. It is realy good thought out.
Last, the movie is not like the novel. But that is not so bad, because so some aspects realy better in the movie as in the novel.
At the end i think it is a realy good movie. It is fun to see it and very interessting. I like the movie and want to see it again.
Film review:
The film twelve is a book adaptation from the novel with the same name. The director is Joel Schumacher. It's about a drug dealer Mike. He sells cannabis to his former class mates, since his mother died. But than a new drug named twelve appears and everything changes. Even thought Mike regrets selling this drug the teenagers in the book get addicted to it.
Joel Schumacher managed to create a film which could catch the atmosphere of the book very well. The effects Joel used to make things more interesting are developing many important aspects of the movie.
Furthermore the film shows which problems teenagers in the upper east-side of New York have and that drugs don't solve those problems.
Unfortunately there are too many characters in the movie which makes it nearly impossible to develop them authentic enough to create sympathy.
To sum up the film is made well. And established it to show problems of teenagers in New York. Even if there are a little bit to much characters.
I think that the film is really good, because it shows the real backgrounds for the behaviour of the children.
In the film you can see really good the relations between the children and the parents. The parents do not have any time for their children and does not care really about them. Instead of that they give them money to still their guilty conscience. Especially in the relation between Jessica and her mother this is really well presented in the film. The behaviour of the children is a protest against the parents.
When you watch the film, every person feels accosted. It is because there are so many different types of persons, like Jessica, Sara and Mark Rothko. Every person has an own character and their own problems. This is, what the film makes interesting.
But the really important point is that you can see the implications of the behaviour of the teenagers. Claude shoot many person, Charlie died because of Lionell and many children are shocked. I think the film is a good warning for the children and for the parents because it shows the faults of both sides.
I think that this film is well done. It gives every person a good view on the characters and their problems. Because of that I liked it really.
In my opinion the movie “twelve”, which was directed by Joel Schumacher in 2010 is really worthwile to watch. I like the movie very much, because you get to know another differently everyday live from the kids in the Upper East Side and their teenage problems with drugadicction and partys.
In the movie it is very well presented how drugs react to the behavior and relationships between unsuspecting Molly and her best friend White Mike, who secretly sells drugs for example, or change their live. Jessica is addicted at this new popular drug, called twelve and offers sex to the drugdealer Lionel to get this drug at a party.
In addition it is very interesting to follow the process how lonlyness and exclude leads to an dangerouse state of emergency. In the movie Claude is an outsider in his family and nobody is interested in him just in his brother. You might see that Claude is very violent and aggressive and shoots at the party. In comparison with the novel, which was written by Nick McDonell, the film-director shows these process in his movie very well, so the viewer might understand and retrace that behavior better
Furthermore it is excited that the director uses so many different characters. First it is a little bit confusing, but you get a big overview to all situations and get to know many points of views, so you might form your own opinion. Also all these characters show clearly and reflect the live in the Upper East Side, so viewers might imagen better their daily live.
To sum it up, the way how teenage problems are shown in the movie “twelve” is made interesting and excited. In comparison with the novel the scenes are shown more realistic, so you could understand them more clearly. All in all you will not regret seeing the film!
I had never heard of this movie but I saw a couple of you review it and the consensus was pretty good. I have seen movies on here that are reviewed high by others and then turn out to be horrible flicks. This one actually wasn't too bad. It doesn't have the re-watch factor which brought down its ranking but it was still a pretty good movie. I had never seen any of these actors before which is what I like in a movie. This movie reminded me a lot of the movie Crash but was 1,000 times better. Lets be honest that was a bad movie! Watch if you want to see a movie a little different than what you are probably used to. 7/10
The film “Twelve“, which was directed by Joel Schumacher in the year 2010, deals with rich kids living in the Upper East Side of New York, who take drugs.
We were busy with the novel and the film in our English lessons, so I can say that we know the film very well. And that is why I want to share my opinion about it in the following paragraphs.
In my opinion the film is very good, because it is realistic. It shows how the rich kids , who have nothing really to do and have a lot of problems, try to forget them by using drugs.
Also it shows how dangerous drugs are, because they make people addicted. You will do everything just to have that good feeling ,which you have when you are using drugs. Like Jessica who offers sex to Lionel, because she has not got enough money for buying drugs.
Another point is that the films shows very well how important the love of parents for the behaviour of teenagers is. For example the behaviour of Claude, at the end of the film he goes crazy and kills a lot of people at his brothers' party. Because he can not take it , that he was always the bad one and his younger brother Chris the good one. His parents always loved Chris more than Claude. His mother even throws Claude out of the house and does not permit Chris,to spend time with his older brother, because she is scared that he will end like Claude.
In general the film Twelve is in my opinion very good, because it focuses on important problems in the life of teenagers who seem to have everything but infact they do not even have the basic of life: love and happiness.
The grand finale of Nick McDonell's book Twelve is one of the most powerful and successful buildups I've ever experienced. After an entire story of fairly tranquil moments, McDonell absolutely blows the reader away with an astonishingly gripping conclusion. The movie, directed by Joel Schumacher, has also a climax at the ending and shows good the story of the book.
In the action itself, the current boys make an appearance, everything from playing in the closed universe of rich high school kids at the time of Spring Break, where you can get out to sow. Or at least tried. A round of parties and starts looking for sex, friendship and lost by death, peeking around the corner. Since the dealer White Mike, the main character and a link to another world, represented by the pure, innocent Molly, who loves him and he concealed his dealer job, there are junkies and major drug traffickers, as are young rich snobs and arrogant bitches, and there is a new drug called Twelve, which gave the film its title, but hardly the center of attention.
In my opinion it is good, that Joel Schumacher uses so much characters in the book. They all different but nevertheless they are almost all the same. They concentrate of partys, drugs and sex. The topic of the film is clear but it is a problem for the viewer to follow all of them. You can not concentrate of all of them and it's a big confusion. The only person we truly get to know is White Mike. We know his feelings and his thoughts and also what happend in the past but only of White Mike. I think that is a bit sad.
Only by the voice commentary, which explains and connects all in the film, you can imagine about the feelings of others.
Also I like a lot the way Joel Schumacher plays with the camera settings. He uses many different for example when Jessica takes the new drug twelve he fuzzy the camera. By these settings he takes the spectators to the movie and shows the atmosphere, which he want to created in the scenes. Also the background music fits well.
It is a mix of different genres and that is also what it makes so worthwile to watch it. To sum it up the movie presents the teenagers from the Upper East Side and their problems very good. But in my opinion there is a bit to much violence and it is exaggerated.
In my opinion, the movie “Twelve†is recommendable and I think that the director Joel Schumacher has done a good job altogether.
One aspect of the movie that I like is that all the characters that are connected to White Mike are presented in succession, but they are all at the big party at the end of the movie and the story is finally dissolved, that is why the excitement of the viewer is kept in the whole movie.
Furthermore I like that the director does not foreshadow as much as Nick McDonell does in his novel, so the final of the story is more surprising and not as predictable as in the book.
Lastly I like the good quality of the camera and the actors in the movie.
All in all I think that the movie “Twelve†is good. It is not my favorite movie, but I would still recommend it. <3
The director of the film "Tewleve" is Joel Schumacher, he directs the film in year 2010. The film is about teenagers and their problems.
The story of the film takes place in the Upper East side of New York. The film shows the the teenagers problems with drugs and party. The main person is White Mike, he is a drug dealer so he connects the other characters. The film names Twelve because Twelve is a new drug, but White Mike do not deal with it. There is another drug dealer names Lionel. Lionel killed White Mikes cousin Charlie, but White Mike do not know that. At the birthday party of Sara, White Mikes father says to him that Charlie is dead. White Mike do not know what to do, so he goes to the party of Sara, because he wants to talk with his Molly, White Mikes best friend.
Saras party is at Chris house, so White Mike goes their to search Molly. In one room of the house he finds Lionel, while having sex with Jessica. Lionel pointed the gun of Charlie to White Mike. Mike remembers that it is Charlies gun. Lionel shots on White Mike and with this shot Chris crazy brother comes and kills many people at the party also Lionel.
It is really good how the film shows the teenagers problems, the film is definitely worthwhile to watch. Also so the film is better made the novel "Twelve" by Nick McDonell.
The movie "Twelve", which was directed by Joel Schumacher is definitely worthwhile to watch. Apart from the story the way the film is made is very commendable and makes it more interesting. That is why I like the movie "Twelve" a lot. Also in my opinion the movie is better made than the correspendent novel, written by Nick McDonell.
I think it never minds whether you like action-films, horro-films, or romantic-films, you will like "Twelve" , because there is a piece of every genre in it. Through this project, to put almost all genres together the film is subdivided into many little stories, which are attached with each other. On one side it is positiv, but thus you need to concetrate on every part to understand everthing.
In addition the fact that the movie is cut into weekdays makes it more exciting. The audiece chases the story and becomes curious what may happen next.
Although some reviewers criticize the dusky atmosphere, that nearly rules during the whole movie, I think exacly this fact contributes to the success of it. Because it brings pressure and shows the reality even if it is illustrated excessive. Namely that our generation became more violent and how the different family-lifes belong to that.
Another aspect, which I like a lot about the film is the narrated way. The narrator expresses the thoughts of the main persons, especially of White Mike. First I thought it would be boring with such a narrator, but my opinon changed while I watched it.
Obviously there are many arguments for the movie and there are also a lot more than I named. Besides I think I am not the only one who likes this movie a lot. All in all I can say, that I could watch it more than just one time and this should show that "Twelve" is very successfull and damn sure worthwhile to watch.
:D
