Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End

At the end of Pirates 2, we see the Kraken seemingly devour our anti-hero Captain Jack Sparrow, and all fans of the films are desperate to see his imminent return in the third film. Johnny Depp's saccharine portrayal of the roguish swashbuckler IS the heart and soul of this fantasy/action franchise, after all. After seeing the third film, after months of anticipation, I can honestly say I am still waiting for his return.
Depp seemed to have his heart still in the role, but the convoluted (and downright boring) plot combined with lack-luster dialogue and downright silly set pieces could not save our favorite pirate from his tomb in Davy Jones Locker.
The film has its trademark moments; you get the return of Geoffery Rush's Captain Barbosa and the introduction of some new pirate lords, but the lack of any genuine Jack Sparrow moments just doesn't keep this ship afloat.
The action is diluted for part three as well, and while there are some classic pirate moments, nothing tops scenes from either of the first two films, which were better by far in either pacing, dialogue or plot.
See part three if only to conclude the trilogy of what HAD been a fun filled trek through a forgotten genre, but be warned that the thrills from the first two are few and far between. Aaargh...

After reading this review, I think I can find a better way to spend three hours of my life. I hate to hear this franchise has gone the way of "The Matrix." Thanks for the excellent warning.
it's a shame. just like Spider-man three, and what I've heard, Shrek the Third too. Why are the third movies sucking?
With the characters well established by the third films, they should be BETTER...
But they alays try to outdo the previous movies and the scripts get really silly, I think...
They mess with the formula, and that makes me mad every time. We love Jack Sparrow as a dirty poetic scoundrel, and everything else was supporting roles. Good supporting roles, yes.. but Pirates=Jack Sparrow. The first, and to a degree, second stories were good and original as well... If it's not broke, don't fix it... But in Hollywood they do it all the time and ruin great franchises, sure they make a load of cash on day one but that is because everyone is expecting a TRUE trilogy, like the original Star Wars or even, hell, Lethal Weapon got better as it went... Spiderman, Shrek, Pirates... sequels are getting crappy again. Please God no Ghost Rider 2...
absolutely loved the first and thought the second was boring. Don't care at all to see the third.
I love all 3, actually!!! I like the 3rd the best, it seems like there's more action, more moments that keep you on the edge of your seat in the third! And also there are more funny parts in this one! The only thing I don't like about the movie is how the writers decided to end it, and have pretty much already decided that there won't be a 4th. But besides that I loved it!
I was amazed at just how bad 3 was. We watched 2 and then went straight to see 3. Three was very confusing and it had such potential. The movie did not capture the best of Jack Sparrow. What a disappointment!
good movie and funny.
i actually enjoyed three... think its weird eh? i bet you do. i think the first one was the best by alot the second one was boring and the third one... i thought that it was almost as good as the original. *shrugs* maybe its only me though.
the second one had amazing CGI, probably the best ever, and there were some exciting parts, like the island fight, the rest was boring though. I still haven't seen the third, but it did look bad to me even for the trailor. and yes, please no Ghost Rider 2, unless they get a better writer, better CGI technology, and drop the old actors, and get new ones. Then I might see it.
nice movie
The movie suffered from the same thing as spider-man three, they tried to fit too much in. I agree with the review, however; I might have given it only one star instead of two.
I thought this movie was actually pretty decent. (For a third.) I mean, it actually had some kind of a plot, Jack in Davy Jone's locker was hilarious. Although, I do think the whole "Calypso" thing was cheesy.
Pirates of the Caribbean was great entertainment. I didn't like it as much as the first one, but it did satiate my wants for the movie. Still a must see.
Speaking of the movie, I stumbled upon a funny clip online with one of the actors from the movie that I thought was pretty funny --if not strangely entertaining.
Feel free to check it out.

I didn't have a problem with pirates 3. I thought the first one was better (and is the best of the three), but didn't have a problem with it.

Wow i completely disagree. First of all, the third movie was only made for those fans out there who truly love the movie and the stories they tell. i don't know if you were this way or not. if you've only seen the third movie once, i would try seeing it a second time. i liked it SO much more the second time, it made more sense, and just connected better. This movie was much darker, so it made all the characters feel darker. But i know Johnny Depp is the 'heart' of this film, but there are also some other important characters in the movies, and they get the spotlight in some of this movie. Elizabeth completely changes and Will gets cursed. Jack Sparrow is in it a little bit less, but he still brings a lot of power to the film. i thought, honestly, this movie was clever. the plots are so intertwined that you don't get it on the first take, but it comes after. pirates fans of course want to watch this movie millions of times so they begin to understand the story. the CGI was terrific. i also thought there was some emotional depth in this movie... you felt as if everyones grown so much. i thought it was a terrific third movie. im sad its done, and even though it ended a little weird (jack just floating off in the middle of the ocean) it still ended the trilogy rather well. but to each his own.. everyone has their own opinions.
it's sad that people didn't like this film, though. i honestly enjoyed it as a story much better than the second. it was more exciting and funnier also
