Live Free or Die Hard

YIPPE KI YAE!!! John McLain is back in action, and he doesn't miss a beat... or a beating! This time out he's got a great new sidekick in the form of a young hacker who is every bit the smarmy, reluctant hero we've been missing since Die Harder. These wrong-place, wrong-time everyday folk make the perfect team of protagonists for the sequel to a series made famous for its top notch, bareknuckled action and more importantly, it's smart writing... with top notch blending of action-movie fantasy and gritty realism.
Who can forget the moment in the first Die Hard, when you realized just how smart this kick ass action franchise could be, when the villain Hans Gruber intones "You wanted a miracle... Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you... the F.B.I..." This series hasn't let up since, and just because it's been awhile, don't expect this film to falter.
The cyber terrorism plot is a perfect fit for McLains next gen return. The action may be all blissfully over the top, but the story is downright scary and convincing.
All key players are expertly cast. Once again you have a quintessential Die Hard villain, one of the franchises' most stand-apart traits. Timothy Olyphant plays a scathingly cool hacker extraordinaire, bent on bringing the country to its knees through it modems. He is assisted by the stunning Maggie Q, the beautiful bad ass who gives McLain his best fight yet!
Justin Long (You know...Mac Boy) is terrific as the uber geek turned action hero, equally balancing his sidekick duties with heroics of his own. The banter flies freely between the two, and it always rings true and genuine, and more importantly, damn funny. This kid could become a star...
And Bruce Willis is still box office gold, this may be his best action film yet. I say keep 'em coming!!!
Finally, the summer movie season of 2007 has begun! Live Free or Die Hard succeeds on every level; engaging story, superb writing, phenomenal acting, and the best darn roller coaster riding, fingernail biting, seat gripping action scenes of the summer!!!

I agree, we just came from the movie and really enjoyed it....laugh and thought a couple stunts were a little out there, but hey, its a movie ! I do agree that Bruce Willis is still box office draw.
I love Bruce Willis, been a fan for many years..My daughter and I are going to see this movie today..I know I will really like it..he has and will continue to be the ultimate hero. IMO
Die Hard is my favorite action movie franchise of all time and Live Free of Die Hard was everything I have been waiting for since 95 when Die Hard with a Vengence came out....John McClain is the best action movie figure of ever! The movie had it all, great laughs, great action...McClain kickin ass and saving lives...If you like Die Hard at all, see this movie.
edge of your seat from beginning til end loved it totally agree...Bruce Willis needs to continue on living through this series of "Die Hard", there should be like another three or four if you asked me...Like "Die Hard seven....You can't kill me beeotches!!!!" Love it
I haven't seen a Die Hard movie since the first, but maybe I'll watch this one. I'm curious about the banter (as you describe) between Willis and Long.
Thanks for the review.
I will agree, this was a good movie. A little long for my tastes... but another excellent addition to the Die Hard series!
A great review for a great movie Fleen. I agree with the review completely from the trusty sidekick, to the Kevin Smith cameo this kicked some ass. If this is the first time you have seen a Die Hard film I strongly suggest you see the rest.
I agree with every positive comment said thus far, the only problem I somewhat had was how 'indestructable' they made Willis' character out to be and Olyphant's seemed weak in comparison.
I stumbled upon a funny clip online with one of the actors from the movie that I thought was pretty funny --if not strangely entertaining.
Feel free to check it out.
