Would you believe that I wasn't even interested in this movie till a friend of mine saw it? He's a grown man with 3 kids and he LOVED it! After watching it myself, I can see why. I had my suspicions of it being another "The Wild" or "Madagascar", but it clearly stands out. Aside from the all-star cast (Bruce Willis, Gary Shandling, Wanda Sykes, Steve Carrell, Nick Nolte, Eugene Levy, and others) the movie appeals to the family-type, with a mixed group of woodland creatures who wake up from winter hibernation to discover that their Forest has been surrounded by housing development. Meanwhile, RJ (Bruce Willis) uses the family's foraging skills to help him gather food to satisfy a threatening bear (Nick Nolte). Plenty of features on the DVD too, including a four-minute short starring Hammy the Squirrel. (Steve Carrell)

Thanks for the review. I'm leery of some animated films these days, but this one sounds like a winner. I've heard other good reviews on it, too. Looks like it has an outstanding cast.

This movie was much better the second time for some reason! But a very accurate reveiw!
Good animation and all... but seriously.
The plot was shot. Oooo, a bear's chasing me and threatening to kill me so let me just take advantage of some dumb witless beats. P-r-e-t-t-y much sums it up for me. Sorry to the fans of it - but nada.
Great family flick, good for anyone. RJ's wit and Hammy's mindless antics, and Shandling's conservative turtle were superb.
Rate this one way above Cars or the Wild. Right up there with Madagascar. 4 stars!
Well worth seeing. It wasn't the best animation ever, but it was very entertaining. Take your whole family!!
Over the Hedge was a all around funny movie. It is not stop comedy and eating. Those were some crazy animals.
