well, first of all this movie is not really scary...... i mean when it does get tense it is only for about 10 seconds and then it ends... it is REALLY boring until about an hour into the film and then like i said before when it gets even a little scary it ends in a matter of seconds. I almost put this movie in the drama section because it was soooo dramatic. with the female screaming and crying and just freaking out. i really reccomend that you dont go see this movie please save yourself a few bucks by not renting this.

This to me is one of the finest horror films I've seen, because it isn't about a single "jump moment" scare or just a bunch of blood and gore, it is a cerebral horror, which is where real fear truely lies. I realize there is an audience for all types of horror flicks, but for people who find 99% of scary movies to be the same bloody hackfest over and over, this movie offers a smart, tingly story where the viewers imagination is actually engaged, you don't just count bodies.
Though your review is not long, I do feel you make your point rather well.
I, too, was a bit disappointed in the film. The whole premise is based on the audience believing that the footage is real. Once you understand that this is not the case, the movie falls flat.
An interesting concept, but not enduring.
Unfortunately, I have to side with the initial reviewer. Perhaps the film must be watched in a dark theatre with a number of people experiencing it alongside you, but I watched it in broad daylight in my living room and almost fell asleep in the process. The only thing that kept me going was the so-called abrupt ending, and even that was disappointing. I found the characters irritating, the storyline dull and believability ridiculous. I can't fathom anyone taking this movie seriously.
