Everyone's Hero ---->Homerun for Young Kids

Sometimes simple can feel solid and shallow at the same time. That's certainly the case in "Everyone's Hero", a baseball animation film that seems to fall short of what is typically expected in today's competitive family-films, but yet still manages to push solid life-lessons that parents can (and should) use to teach their children.
"Hero" follows the journey of Yankee Irving (voiced by Jake T. Austin), a 10 year old boy who loves baseball but isn't any good at it. Yankee, who's father works as a janitor for the NY Yankees, gets blamed for the disappearance of Babe Ruth's famous bat, Darlin'. Upset that his father was fired over this accusation, Yankee decides to find the missing bat. Assisted by a talking baseball named Screwie (voiced by Rob Reiner), the young boy begins a quest to find the bat, retake it from the theives (evil Cubs pitcher Lefty, voiced by William H. Macy, and equally villanous Cubs owner , Napolean Cross (seemingly voiced by Robin Williams,)and return it to the Great Bambino (voiced by Brian Dennehey)
) and save the Yanks chances of winning the World Series. Yankee also gets some assistance from the Darlin' (voiced by Whoopi Goldberg) and newfound friend Marti Brewster (voiced by Raven Symone').
The themes of doing the right thing, being comitted to helping others and the life principle of "just keep swingin'" make "Hero" a solid as an educational choice. And certainly kids 8 and under will laugh wholeheartedly at the seemingly continous slapstick knocks and falls between the bat, ball and bad guys. Adults hoping for a clever script
with adult innuendo, references and humor will be disappointed, however.
