I am Legend

For anyone who has read the book, you'll know that the film takes a completely different direction. Despite this, I'm still very impressed by the suspense it creates. The mutants, however, could have been better animated. Although they resembled a poor-grade "Gollum" from LOTR, their shrieks were capable of turning hair white.
The film takes alot from 28 days later in that it creates a sense of lonliness and solemn serenity. Seeing a completely emptied NYC, devoid of life, is a truly unique sight.
Will Smith did an exceptional job holding his own in a film with a minimal amount of actors. For those of you who still shudder at the memory of Wild West, fear not! Smith's acting has improved much since.
My only serious critique involves the nature of the mutants. The sight of them would suggest they are no smarter than a cave man at best but this is not true! One of them copies a guirilla booby trap that Smith's character sets up to use against him. The creatures also are capable of domesticating dogs who have also been infected. Yet they can't pronounce a single word of English.
Also, once a person is infected, he gains super human strength, reflexes, agility, speed, and combat skills. In one scene, a mutant bites Smith's shoulder and throws him with the strength of his jaw. I would almost want to be infected. Aside from this, the movie is sound.
The ending is different... i like it.
