I give this hit-stage-production-turned-movie a five star! The music and choreography is stunning - as are the costume designs, and sets. This is now officially one of my favorite musicals, because it's not just people singing (but there IS kinda a lot of it...) around. It has a mystery/suspense side to it too. Like for instance: what does the Phantom LOOK like under that ghostly mask?? Or try - who does Christine choose in the end? The hansome (and rather naive) Rhoul, (er, sp??) or the alluring, and suave Phantom that beckons...OR does he kill everyone before the police get him?!?!!!!??? I will be truthful and say that this movie is NOT for everyone, but heh. You can't have everything. If you like musicals - then you should DEFINATELY watch this! If not...

I agree this was a great movie, in the realms of chicago, even though i preferred this to it, i love over the top musicals, another was to watch is Moulin Rouge, love that movie... The singing was also good in this, with all the leads singing their own songs, like moulin rouge, again....The songs are amazing.
I loved The Phantom of the Opera, Lord knows how many times I've seen it on TV, but the actual play is phenomenal. I am seeing it again in Chicago.
