This movie I was excited about seeing because I love films that are about controversy and showing you the darker sides of the United States. This film was great and has a great cast to push the story and the suspense along. The cast consists of Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon, Peter Sarsgaard, Alan Arkin and Meryl Streep. Great performances in roles that demanded it in order to make the movie a success for itself. I only say that because it did not do great in theaters but still a great film anyways.

Now the story is about a man who was born in Egypt but has lived in the United States for twenty years with a proper greencard and because of where he was born he was abducted for terrorism. He was then brought to some other country to be tortured until he gave up the information that they wanted to hear. Now back in Chicago is his wife played by Reese Witherspoon and she is desperately trying to find out where her husband is and if he is okay. So she asks for help from a friend who happens to be the assistant for the senator played by Peter Sarsgaard and the senator is played by Alan Arkin. So he is trying to find out what happened to him and finds out that he is being held against his will by the authorization of Meryl Streeps character. Jake Gyllenhaal plays a rookie CIA agent who is to oversee the interrogation and to obtain information.

The film is greatly acted and directed intertwining people whose stories don't seem to fit but in the end it all falls into place. I loved how they made it work because if they couldn't pull it off it wouldn't have been such a good film. Once you see everything match up the film becomes much more apperciated. Definitely a winner and is a must for all drama suspense fans.
