Night at the Museum

This is a movie I really wanted to like. When I saw the previews, I was really excited. It had Ben Stiller, it had first rate special effects, and it just looked really funny.
But I am sorry to say that I was disappointed. The movie for me never really had much heart. The plot was as lame as can be. It was just one special effect after another (which were excellent), but that is not enough for me in a family movie like this. Ben Stiller was funny, and it made me laugh a few times, and the kids will like it, but for me it was just kind of boring.

i didn't find it boring myself, but i think ben stiller is a hilarious actor. the movie did have good parts to it. i will agree that the special effects where very well done though.

With all respect to Waugh's opinion, allow me to state my own review:

Night at the Musem is a good rental with a SOLID cast.

Stiller's night watchman has a truly unique job. While nobody will get carried away with his, ahem, "acting," he is his usual consistent and helpless self.

The plot is nothing to really get excited about. Like "Snakes on a Plane", the title tells all. But like other Stiller films, when you add some legends (like Andy Rooney, Dick Van Dyke, Bill Cobbs, & Robin Williams), then top it off with a cutie (Carla Gugino), fellow goofian Owen Wilson, the ever funny Steve Coogan, and the unmistakable voice of Brad Garrett, and there it is: an entertaining flick.

2.5 stars
