The Mummy:Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

I technically want to give it three and a half stars because it was entertaining enough to deserve so. Most people didn't like it and I can see why but if you go in thinking that its going to be different than the other mummy films because its about a Chinese emperor than you are mistaken. The film is absurd and preposterous and is proud of it. The movie wasn't meant to take on a world of realistic possibilities it was meant to bring you into a fiction world where there are a ton of action and lots of the undead walking around. If you went in with that in mind then you can enjoy the film a lot better.

The film stars an almost entirely new cast except for Brendan Fraser returning as Rick O'Connell and John Hannah as Evelyn O'Connell's brother Jonathan. The new cast consists of Maria Bello as Evelyn O'Connell (replacing Rachel Weisz), Luke Ford as their son Alex, Jet Li as the Chinese emperor, Russell Wong as General Ming and Michelle Yeoh as Zi Yuan. At first I was upset that they had changed a major character but in the end it worked out. I got used to her and it didn't stop me from enjoying the film.

Now I would tell you what the story is about but as you can guess its about the same thing as the first two but a different mummy. I am not going to fight with anyone and say that the story is strong or the acting is superb but what I will say to all is that this is just a fun hour and forty five minute film. That is what it was meant to be nothing more. I found myself enjoying the action and the adventure sequences a lot. The story was somewhat entertaining in how they got to what was going on. Overall a rousing adventure. I am a fan of action/adventures and I am a fan of the whole series of the Mummy films. If you are looking for the award winning actioner than pick up No Country For Old Men because than that is more for your satisfaction. This film is fo people just trying to have a good time. I recommend it for those that have liked the other films because it keeps the same style of how events get into motion along with humor. Even though it was directed by a different director (Rob Cohen instead of Stephen Sommers) it still kept the same essence. Stephen Sommers produces the movie in case people were wondering. Good adventure film.
