Bottom Line: Shia LaBeouf has nowhere to run and neither do the perpetrators of this slick but silly techno-thriller.

Honestly, LaBeouf deserves much better work than what he's being given at this time. I mean, Eagle Eye? It even sounds dumb. Disturbia and Transformers were great for him THEN- but now he has matured into a very consistent good actor and needs work that is more mature... even some work that could be recognized by the academy. I think if someone as young as Keira Knightley could do it, then so could LaBeouf. But just by the previews of Eagle Eye, i could tell it would be ridiculous. What is the plotline anyway?! Anyway i haven't seen the movie yet, but thanks for giving a short, to the point review. I might actually consider not seeing it now.
Well i actually saw it for myself, and i somewhat agree with you. Yes, it was EXTREMELY silly. I actually believed the movie started out rather good (or at least kept my attention) but then slowly started to move downwards. The plot COULD have been believable had they not added in the actual Eagle Eye watch thing (Sorry, I'm not sure how to describe it). The plot is all about terrorists, and terrorists could quite in fact own an organization that spies on people, taps their phone calls, and gives them warnings about what they must do unless they want to die. In fact, the first two are already currently happening in our own country. But the plotline could have been believable, had the movie not tilted downwards the last hour. I actually found many of the scenes terrifying, especially the opening scenes in which Shia finds the boxes in his room and then the construction pole crashes into his room. The cast in my opinion was rather corny- Rosario Dawson, and the FBI agents were not believable to me. Michelle Mahonogan was ok... not really that great. Shia LaBeouf always does well with the material he's given. He creates a large amount reality and emotion on screen... it makes you feel for his character. So my point is that this movie was very, very silly and ridiculous... yet was a terrifying and VERY entertaining thriller. I give it 2 stars... maybe I'm being to soft i don't know, but that is my personal opinion. Silly, but entertaining enough.
