As someone who is not from the US I enjoyed this movie because I have extensively read about the US Civil War and Lincoln's presidency. I thought Day-Lewis was outstanding and truly demonstrated the burden Lincoln bore. However there are many parts of the movie that presume a knowledge of this part of history and several friends who have seen it failed to follow aspects of the film.
