Not a bad review that the person before me wrote but goodness, did you really have to make it 3 days worth? You might as well have typed out the movie script. Now then, where was I? Oh yes! The Notebook. Amazing story, not that original but still amazing. Ryan Gosling delivers here. With the way he looks at his costar in those romantic moments, ALL MEN long for that. ALL MEN. The story will make you laugh, wonder, get upset and yes...yes... cry. Now on to the one and only, Rachel McAdams... Need - I - say - more? If you really want to get into actresses of Hollywood who deliver an Oscar-worthy performance and has the looks to go along with it - Rachel McAdams is that. She is what every man, black white or whatever longs for in a wife, partner and whatever else. Especially those of us who are Hopeless romantics. Along with Ryan - they deliver a performance that will strike you in the gut, and leave you down for the count. This movie does in it's entirety, what some that are out in the box offices today, can't even do in their opening. A must see, rent, buy... and have.
First off, this one was put together by the same guy behind the HUGE cult classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer. You know - the one with Sarah Michelle Gellar and the crew. Charisma Carpenter who is STILL one of the most gorgeous women in the world. This one starts out nicely. It has good looking actors in it who also deliver - THE DOUBLE PACKAGE - and it also has a easy storyline to follow. Like he does best, Joss Whedon actually combines all of the elements in this one; love, hurt, pain, suffering, a little bit of horror, action, exquisitely mapped out fight scenes, drama and yes... ...humor. Joss doesn't miss with this one. Summer Glaum plays River Tam and she is absolutely beautiful - Nice movie - get it - rent it - it's worth far more than some that are out now!!
If you like drama... and for those of you kids out there who are googly-eyed over the Twilight Saga...Take a gander at where actors like that more than likely got some of their acting cues. This movie takes hold of you from the start and DOES NOT LET GO! It is amazing because it makes all of us question our own racism's (that we do have no matter who you are no matter what religion.) Get this one - it will surely have you in tears I GUARANTEE IT.. And the Roger Ebert Guarantee is something you can bet your sweet a-- on!
Let me just be honest. This very movie has been imitated in SEVERAL shows and films alike - all because it is THAT original. Hats off to Ed Harris and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and their cast and crew on this one. The movie is awesome and I am glad to say that it's in my top 10 of best films ever made. I wont give away too much but this movie starts out slow. It starts out so slow that it's likely that you'll get bored with it. But I encourage ANYONE - ride it out. This one will definitely have you on the edge of your seat and pushing for the good guys...especially my favorite guy. Virgil Briggman. I think anyone of any age can enjoy this one ... I know I did.
And what I have to say about this one is going to make a lot of teenage girls mad but... they get mad over cell phones and stuff they can't have so - Who gives a hoot? I don't. Now - Eclipse - Twilight 3. Nice pickup after that documentary New Moon. I must say though, this one turned out 100 times better then the sequel. The storyline was FAR better. Somewhere along the lines they actually picked up an acting coach for Taylor Lautner (I don't care if the name's wrong) and Edward still looked like something in his lower bowels was hurting him. There was that one line from Jacob (Lautner) that almost threw the entire movie off for me. The one where he tells Edward, "And we both know I'm hotter than you!" And of course the little teens in the audience seemed to have an orgasm from this but... If you actually focus on how he said it - again he sounded too soft and almost like he wasn't sure. In any case - better then New Moon - THANK you for improving the Saga..
I've actually seen all 3. One being the best b/c it took viewers back - those of us who recall highschool days. This one was a bit rushed, and you could see that. This movie played out as if they filmed it "ad-lib" Just let the actors do whatever - in the hopes of getting it back out there. Teens love it. The cute kids can blow up a building and teens are gonna drool b/c they're fairly good looking actors. But let's be honest, there are VERY FEW - and I mean VERY FEW - actors and actresses out there who have the double package - LOOKS and EXCELLENT acting skills. The kids of twilight DO NOT. Most of them are looks and that's it. The werewolf boy seems like a bit of a snowflake. His voice and lines are just WAY too soft. Edward looks like he's suffering from a serious case of painful diarrhea and Bella is okay. I guess. This storyline was crappy and thankfully 3 picked up. This one was also drawn out WAY too much. But hey - kids love it so....
Hello again guys - Mick Ebert here. You can trust my reviews will be on point b/c I hold NO punches. If a movie sucks - you can count on my review as being 94% accurate. Now, Revenge of the Fallen - T2. And Im not talking Terminator. To say the least, this movie was UNREAL! I didn't think that after the first one they could actually carry the torch into a sequel. The actors were amazing! The storyline was nice. Visual effects and voices are just phenomenal! Most of us grew up on transformers when they were more boxed looking and still being drawn to animate. It's great to see that SOMEONE is still making quality movies. I thought this one was outstanding. Storyline began veering off into the distance with how they wanted to convey everything but in the end - they brought it all together. Can not wait for the 3rd installment.
This one starts out like The Matrix 4 - or what it might have looked like, had the Wochowski Brothers (forgive me for the wrong spelling) actually put out a fourth title...but they were smart. They got us with the first one, had us melting with Reloaded and brought it all home in the 3rd installment... So Why oh why are people STILL trying to do what they perfected. Let's look at the first 2 Resident Evil movies. They were about what the title is about - SURVIVING a zombie onslaught. This was something they threw together following the hugely successful Resident Evil 5 video game, and tried to get something going. Im sure they made their money - and the 3D part they could have kept along with the storyline. This one, I walked out on too. It just made NO sense whatsoever. Hopefully the next video game will be a step-up because THIS MOVIE SUCKED. I was bored with it and that's a first for ANY R-E title.
I suppose after the flops with Lady in the Water, The Happening, The HUGE FLOP with The Last Airbender - M. Night Shyamalan is trying to be that ONE writer/moviemaker - who just all out sucks. This movie played out like a typical day when the Devil/Satan/Lucifer, whatever you prefer - just has nothing else to do but pick with 5 idiots stuck on an elevator. Im not the type to walk out of a movie, and thank the movie-God's that I didn't pay to see this one, someone else did but - word of advice M.Night, you keep this up and people will FINALLY start to realize that you're just not worthy of keeping around in the movie arena. Join the SciFi channel - write for them, or better yet - Join Al Qeada - I'm sure with them your movies might get some props - but please stop dooping movie goers -
