I went to see Jackass for the same reason everyone else did; All the outrageous crap. Therefore, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. You see, this movie was more than just outrageous crap, for the following reasons. First, there are still petty acts of well-executed violence and short, simple displays of carelessness, but when this movie goes big, it goes really big. A lot of the action in this movie is on a much larger scale than the previous iterations in the series. I found their increased funding made for a more gratifying experience throughout, as they had their way with some expensive toys. Second, I thought the 3D aspect was going to be a tacked-on gimmick, but it wasn't. Although it was only used some of the time, when it was it made the experience more than unique. Third, I've always been a huge fan of Steve-O, and he brings a lot to this movie. If you have ever seen his documentary, you'd know he lost a lot of his mojo from drug and alcohol use, but having been clean for two years, he's a lot more fun. Fourth, for reasons I shall hot expound upon, the movie just feels like a really satisfying end to a great era of shock humor. The way the end of the movie was played out actually made me sad that this was the last we were going to see of the boys, even though it's pretty clear that their run as a franchise is played out.
In summary, there was a little too much wiener in it for my tastes (although the baseball thing has hysterical), but the boys' last punch in the air was a really fun time and did well to wrap up the franchise.
