Name: James P
A pretty good role for Leonardo DiCaprio. He should cut the accent because it doesn't make his characters more complex like I'm sure that he's hoping for. At least it wasn't as bad as it was in Blood Diamonds. Tobey McGuire's character is really kind of bland in this film but he still pulls it off. The one bad part about the film is the ending. Not the way that the film should have ended in my opinion. Watch this one because it's better than you might think. 6/10
A decent storyline but the villian Kahn left something to be desired. He emotionless mostly except for small bursts of anger here and there which got old fast. Most everyone from the first movie was brought back to their original roles which was nice so you didn't have to deal with horrible re-castings. While not as good as the first Star Trek movie it was pretty close. Worth a watch. 7/10
For one a zombie movie has to be violent to make it believable. This movie had zombies getting shot but the blood was kept at bay because it wasn't an R rating. The fast moving zombies have always been a bad thing in a zombie movie. It doesn't fit with many of the other zombie movies out there and it really doesn't help to make them any scarier like you would think that it would. Brad Pitt in my opinion is somewhat of a poor actor. Troy was epic but besides that not a big fan. Pitt was pretty mediocre in this one. Worth a watch if you can get it from Netflix or RedBox but dropping $10 on a theater ticket just isn't worth it. 5.5/10
Having seen the movie Olympus Has Fallen previously I expected something very similar and I got what was expected. The casting and acting was better in Olympus. Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum were poor cast choices in this movie. Neither were believable in their roles. Foxx was a bad choice to have as president of the United States. Tatum just wasn't believable as a former veteran bad ass who is solely responsible for taking back the White House from a building full of terrorist with rocket launchers and machine guns. Maggie Gyllenhaal should take some acting lessons. She definitely doesn't have the acting talent that her brother Jake has. By far the worst character in this movie was Joey King who play Tatum's daughter. Almost 100% of her dialogue could have been left out of the movie because everything that she said was just the most asinine thing that you have ever heard. They should have just axed her character from the beginning. If I want to watch a White House being taken over movie and I have a choice I would go with watching Olympus Has Fallen. 6/10
The acting was decent in this one but I wasn't a fan of the storyline. Most of the beginning and middle of the movie is trying to find their drunk Asian friends place because he's too drunk to tell them where he lives. You would think that in a college flick where there are a bunch of college chicks partying and drinking that there would be naked women galore but if that's one of the reasons that you want to watch this movie you should just skip this one. You have maybe one set of breasts in the entire film. Just thought that I'd mention that because it would seem that mostly young kids would watch a film like this. The ending didn't explain much of what happened afterwards. Not a bad film but I would stream this one for free or pay $1 and rent it from Redbox.
This is another Superman movie that is just a disappointment. Henry Cavill filled the shoes but just wasn't a viable Superman. Pretty much the whole cast shouldn't have been in this movie. They didn't fit the roles that they were given. Kevin Costner was pretty good but he's about the only one. The story was terrible. It didn't go with the prior movies or show in any way. The special effects looked bad. They looked so CGI that it wasn't even funny! Any scene where it involves people getting killed they cut away from the scene so that you don't see it. Not very realistic. The aliens super weapon is pretty much just a copy off of the weapon from Independence Day. A giant beam of light that just obliterates everything underneath it. Not very original! If you can see this for free then maybe check it out but I wouldn't pay to watch this. 4.5/10
This was the role that Nicholson was born for. He was perfect for it. I would have liked for the spirits to have done more evil than just speaking with Nicholson's character. The movie never explains if Danny's imaginary friend was really just that or a spirit that possessed in. Maybe the book went into greater detail on this but I have never read it so I'm not sure of the answer. Overall not bad but it still left me a little disappointed considering it's reputation. 5.5/10
This movie was a little hard to get into. The casting wasn't that great. Ryan Gosling's acting is lacking. The only reason that he continues to get work is because women seem to think that he is good looking for some reason. Emma Stone is nothing spectacular either. Sean Penn makes a horrible bad ass bad guy! You just can't take him seriously. The movie was pretty average. It was hard to get into the action scenes because they just didn't seem to be that suspenseful.
Many people like this movie because it has sex appeal by the actors playing Hansel and Gretel. Now I'll admit I did enjoy seeing Gretel in tight clothes but that was just an added bonus. This is definitely not the same kind of take as the fairy tale. The writers take the fairy tale and make Hansel and Gretel really pissed off where they want to kill some witches. It has enough blood and violence to keep you entertained. I really don't think that this is a horror flick because it just wasn't scary. A nice twist to a classic fairy tale does say it pretty well. 6.5/10
