After almost 11 years since Scream 3, we were satisfied where the franchise left off, as a trilogy. It was a risky moive in making Scream 4, but not only does it demonstrate how the classic scream franchise works perfectly well with our generation, it reminds us how good the original trilogy was.
In the fashion of the series, the movie starts off with an opening sequence where usually one or two people die as a result of being killed by the antagonist, Ghostface. The opening in Scream 4 is by far the best in the series. It's creative, funny and scary. It includes a twist and a tiny reference to the first scream movie. It also makes fun of all the bad and unpredictable horror movies; it uses that as a base for this sequence.
After the opening sequence we are immediately reunited with the old scream movie cast and introduced to updated characters. When Sidney , the protagonist, realise's that the killings are happening again, the real action kicks off.
Throughout the movie, we have funny and gory death scenes to keep us entertained and the mystery as to who the killer is plays a sick game with our minds as it could be ANYONE.
The ending was the real triumph to this movie. It has a MAJOR plot twist and the motive is not only creepy but very 21st century, which is what Scream 4 hoped to do.
The entire movie was very enjoyable, but it lacked alot of fear. Scream 4 didn't include alot of the hide away chase scenes that happened in Scream 2. Scream 4 mostly just shoved all the death scenes in our faces rather than doing more with it.
If your a fan of the last 3 scream movies, you will enjoy this movie and it will leave your satisifed, but not amazed.
If you didn't like the scream movies, this one won't exactly make you fall in love with it.
