This review may be short as i actually dont have alot of interest for this movie.
Halloween 2 is a direct follow up from Rob Zombie's stylish remake of Halloween, which i didn't exactly think was a scary movie, and the sequel see's michael myers, the films antagonist return BACK to Haddonfield ...again..
Upon first seeing the trailer, i was somehow interested to see the movie despite the ghost of Michaels mother ruining it.
Now seeing the movie, i say that the trailer was amazing and the movie was...well..
The first problem i had with this movie was the first seuqence that took place in the hospital. It was a great chase scene and it was quite brutal. But then it had me thinking...SHOULD THE MOVIE JUST END NOW?
But no. Before Michael kill's Laurie, she wakes up from a dream. Kind of what i wanted to happen after the movie.
A whole lot of shit happens in the middle and then Laurie somehow battles Michael. I wont give away the shit ending.
This movie is just a fail. BUT. It was stylishly done and stuck to a great emo-type movie. It stuck to the tension of the first movie which proves a better sequel, but a bad movie.
This was a highly anticipated horror back in '03's summer! As any horror fanatic would know, Jason and Freddy are two iconic killers in the genre, both terrifying, both ruthless and unstoppable. But was this persona present in this film?
Yes and No.
Freddy Vs Jason starts out in with Jason waking up from some sort of coma as such but little does he know, Freddy cant kill anyone in Sprinwood as he is almost weakened i guess, so he needs Jason to reinstall fear, thinking that the police will know it's freddy. Jason arrives at Sprinwood..AND SO THE FUN BEGINS!!! He kill's off one character at the beginning which the police automatically suspect freddy. Lori, the central protagonist, realises what Freddy is up to and she goes into the dream world to get freddy back to reality to face off against jason and die.
THIS WHERE IT KICK'S OFF.
Freddy and Jason begin battling it out with more people dying and carnage ensuing. The battle climaxes with Freddy dying. Boo hoo. But at the end, it's revealed that they are both, infact alive...SEQUEL????
The reason i gave this movie such a low star rating is simply because it's very poorly executed. The dialouge is terrible, the acting is BAD. But the movie can actually be scary and funny at the same time, it just doesnt feel like a horror movie, more of a comedy. But desspite these flaws, the movie is quite panicky! The fact that no one is safe awake or asleep provide's the movie with a great synopsis, although the director clearly failed in nailing this.
Overall, the movie is a must see for friday the 13th and nightmare on elm street fans but anyone who hates horror should avoid this because they wont take it seriously.
Jeepers Creepers 2 is a sequel to the first movie and picks up about 3 day's or so after the events of the first. We already learn that the movie's antagonist, the creeper, is still on his feast and hunt for food ( HUMANS ) before he hibernates for 23 years and his 23rd day of walking the earth is about to come to a conclusion.
The opening to this film re-introduces us to the creeper and he kind of transform's from a blue monster in a cloak from the first into a scarecrow-esque creepy person..thing! This movie see's alot more of him flying..
The creeper breaks's down a us full of basketball players, coaches and cheerleaders..once he has eliminated the coaches, he set's his sights on eating the kids with the most fear...
The kids only hope is a farmer who lost his son prior to this in the opening segment of the movie. The farmer is using the creepers weapons against him to take him down.
Now, Jeepers Creepers 2 certainly is more paced than the first. It's more eventful, easy to follow and alot more of the creeper is shown. The death count is alot higher but some kids tend to just vanish from the movie!
The climax of this film is applaudable and end's on a creepier note.
GOOD: ITS A SATISFYING SEQUEL TO ITS ORIGINAL!
BAD: STORY COULD HAVE BEEN A TAD BETTER!
Final Destination 3 is of course the 3rd movie in the final destination series and in my opinion it is definately better and a step up from the last 2 movies.
This movie takes place at a theme park where kids a celebrating graduation and as the final destination tradition goes, one kid has a premonition that they will die. This time round its a senior called Wendy who has a premonition that the ride " Devil's Flight ", will crash. Her panicking manages to set off a chain reaction and gets a few people including herself off the ride. And of course the ride crashes.
Like the previous films, she realises death is after the ones who got off the ride are on death's list.
This movie was far better than the last 2 films for a few reason.
1. This movie was kind of introducing a new generation of the series as the first 2 took place years before the events of number 3.
2. The death scene's in this one are gory, funny and very creative. It's pretty impressive than that of the first movie!
3. This movie was generally scary. Number 1 was not taken seriously, number 2 was just boring but had a great story, but this was had an eerie feel to it. Especially the moments when they figure out how death is working to kill them!
Many people state that this movie was not better, tasteless and not scary...WELL THATS NUMBER 4.
Now i am a HUGE fan of the first descent movie.
I was interested to see how the sequel would be developed and why on earth sarah would go back. The reason she did however go back was a bit stupid but reasonable. Upon entering the cave, it takes a while for sarah to regain her memory after seeing corpes and moving images...
When the crawlers reveal themselves, the action does kick off.
Their were alot of intense moments throughout the movie and it showed emotion which made you feel for the character's. The way Juno returned was actually great! She certainyl become more badass than the last time we saw her.
The last half hour of this movie really did keep my eyes glued to the screen and left me praying for them to get out!
SPOILER!!! The outcome of sarah was truly heroic but i am not a fan of the ending. We learn that the crawlers didnt hunt, they were fed, which was not neccessary! It would have been great if the character at the end stayed alive and found help as it would display a great satisfactory ending.
The good points on this movie is that is generally scary and provides a roller coaster ride of emotions throughout.
The bad points are their are a few plotholes that needed to be clearer.
Well..prior to its release i loved the trailer which made me want to see this movie.
Upon seeing it, i am DEFINATELY satisfied. Although its comparable to "i know what you did last summer ", the movie is unique in the way the story follows and the characters are presented. Despite the brief nudity, it was actually a great slasher film and certainly the best i have seen in a WHILE!! The death scenes were very creative and funny and on occasion, it made me jump out of my seat! The overall plot twist was actually well done and i loved the epic ending. It was a great movie, certainly one to see with friends!
Most remakes fail in bringing anything new and amplifying the series but this movie certainly didn't fail! The way Jason was introduced was superb, the opening set the tone for the movie and showed the audience what they could expect from the movie.
Also, the death scenes in this movie; some are funny, some are creative and one of them are just down right cruel!
This movie had a great storyline and the characters were somewhat believable. The final showdown with Jason was indeed epic but the ending was truly haunting and left us questioning the future of this movie..
