The political thriller “Vantage Point†is exciting and full of non-stop action. Although most movies whose plots revolve around politics can tend to be boring and dry, “Vantage Point†keeps its audience, mainly young adults, interested and on their toes.
In the movie, the president of the United States is speaking at an anti-terrorism summit conference in Salamanca, Spain when he gets shot multiple times. Minutes later two bombs explode in the city’s main plaza. The x-factor that makes “Vantage Point†unique and unlike most movies out today is that the events leading up to, during, and after the attack are told from the viewpoint of several different characters. Each character relays a new piece of information ultimately bringing the audience closer to the truth. The audience must put together all of the information obtained from each character’s perspective in order to figure out who is responsible for the assassination of the president. This unique narrative technique keeps the audience involved and interested to find out what the next narrative will uncover. This unique script adds to the suspense of this already tantalizing thriller.
Not only is the plot well-thought out, intricate, and detailed, but the cast, who include stars such as Dennis Quaid, and William Hurt, are believable and realistic. Coupled with the movie’s full-throttle action-packed scenes, star studded cast, and original plot line, “Vantage Point†is one of the best action movies I’ve seen in a long time.
