I'm a big Will Ferrell fan so when I heard he was doing this new movie I had already signed myself up to go see it. I have to say that Will has set the bar pretty high for himself and I was a little disappointed in this flick. There are a few really funny bits (the song is hilarious) but overall, I was hoping for more. Maybe this one will grow on me the way Talladega Nights did. Sometimes you just need some extra time to think about a movie before you really, really love it. I'm hoping I warm up to Semi-Pro more, because the first impression wasn't all net.
Okay, I liked/couldn't stand this movie. There was so much hype over it... no explanation of what the monster (if that's even what you would call it) was... where it came from.. how it got to NYC. The trailers practically begged you.. "Just TRY not seeing this movie and see what kind of water cooler talk you miss out on Monday morning." So I saw it. I (like the other reviewer) was disappointed, but I can say that for what it was trying to be... it did it well. It's hard to say more than that without giving anything away. I do recommend seeing it, just so you can have an opinion of your own about it because EVERYONE is going to have an opinion. I also agree with the comparison to "The Blair Witch Project". Very shaky shots... made it feel more "REAL". I honestly think that this film won't reach it's true potential unless and until it has a sequel. ANYWAY. See it. It's worth the $8.50 to be "in" on the conversation.
After seeing a lot of reviews about this movie, I have to say I went in with expectations higher than they probably should have been. However, Superbad came extremely close to living up to it's reputation. The humor is crude, which I happen to enjoy, but if it's not your thing you might want to stay away. If you enjoyed Knocked Up, you'll like this. I also have to say that for a movie in which everything happens in one night, it moves pretty smoothly and doesn't make you feel like you're watching the longest night of your life. All in All--4 stars!
Okay, I like horror movies, really I do. However... this was horrible. HORRIBLE. There was no introduction to the main character, you hardly knew anything about her... and when bad things started happening, she kept making stupid decisions that ended with you wishing she would die. It opened with some pretty gory stuff... and then the end was a complete disappointment. I regret the one star I gave it.
