I do not understand why movies like this are allowed to exist. It is one of the great flaws of modern democracy that the all powerful Shyamalan has not been tried by a tribunal.
The fight scenes were sloppy and dull. I felt like it had been choreographed by an old woman who only knew Tai Chi. The dialogue was boring and the character development was next to non existent. I almost wanted the main characters to die just so I wouldn't need to suffer their awful acting.
DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE. It's not even the kind of crappy movie that you can enjoy, it's just upsetting to watch - kind of like seeing a sick puppy.
If you are bored and wanting a crappy movie to laugh at, watch an early batman movie; Leave this cheap, chewed up, carcass of the great cartoon it once was to rot in peace.
This show is one of the most unexpectedly brilliant surprises I have ever come across. From the first episode you are intrigued, but very quickly you become strongly attached to the characters, the storyline and the entire avatar universe. In other words you are hooked.
I will keep this brief as I always like to do, but the level of complexity in the plot and - in particular - the characters pasts and motivations is far superior to what you would expect of a children's show and indeed the majority of adult shows. The fact it is a cartoon in no way inhibits it. On the contrary the choreography and effects are stunning.
To give an idea of the kind of work that this show has, each style of 'bending' is based on a distinct martial art. The fight scenes are brilliant fast and exciting, and the show offers something which is hard to find even in blockbuster films... villains that you genuinely find scary.
Few other shows can claim to have the imagination, the beauty nor the depth of plot that this series has. Avatars - I salute you
