Here's the plot if you need one--
A fast food chicken joint is constructed on an Native American burial ground. I guess, although I'm not really positive, that these native's spirits possessed the dead chickens and arose from the grave, seeking double revenge. Chicken zombies from hell!!! Bwaaaaahahahaa.....
Poultrygeist has the basic Troma stuff:
-more gratuitous nudity than a porno (almost)
-revolting projectile vomiting
-extremely disgusting turd spraying
-absurdily bloody decapitations
-outrageous satirical episodes slamming pop culture
-macaroni and cheesy acting
-excessive damage to the crotchal region
-ignoramus heroes that you gotta love
-tactless social commentary
-insane gore stuffed down your throat

Somebody blow the freakin' whistle! Act of Vengeance (aka The Rape Squad) is a disturbingly creepy exploitation flick that for some reason got pounded into cinematic obscurity. Shameful! It's one of the earliest entries into the rape-revenge genre and desperately deserves to be recognized, like a registered sex offender. So you distributers need to spead em and take one for the sleaze team, this is too good to pass up.
It's the savage tale about Linda, a beautiful young woman who gets raped by a man in a hockey mask (Jason you copycat killer!). She joins a female group of rape victims as they all take steps to enact revenge on their perpetrator.
This movie starts off in extremely shocking fashion. Linda gets slapped around and sexually violated by this stranger in disguise, and to add insult to injury he forces her to sing Jingle Bells during the horrific act. Geez, talk about unnerving. This really forces the viewer to feel her pain and hopelessness. Afterwards when she goes to the police, their questioning is nearly as humiliating as the cops probably haven't taken a rape victim sensitivity class.
Acts of Violence is obviously a product of the 70's--it doesn't skimp out on the graphic violence or clothesless females. The acting doesn't always hit the spot, but what's a grindhouse flick without some overacting and a few annoying high-pitched screeches? Rhetorical dude. Throw in a heavy dose of misogyny, a little bit of comedy, plus a silly predictable climax, and you've got yourself a despicable winner, winner, chicken dinner.
Oral Fixation is more than just a mouthful of dark comedy and suspense. It's a cleverly written and highly entertaining story of obsession, sex, and murder. Winner of several awards including the Grand Prize at the Francis Ford Coppola's Inaugural Screenplay Competition, it's a hidden litttle gem of independent filmmaking.
Rachel Marks is a beautiful and voluptous woman with no cavities but has other empty holes gnawing at her insides. She goes to the dentist a few times a week, and it's not just to get her teeth cleaned. Rachel is obsessed with her handsome mouth doctor. He has all the tools to help her live a life filled with big bright smiles. Except for one dilemma--he's married, with a son. Well, that problem can most likely be extracted.
This is Fatal Attraction with a little comedic dental floss. Imagine a sexy patient stripping off her shirt and kissing her dentist just as his sister-in-law assistant walks into the room. Try to explain that one Doc...
Oral Fixation is an entertaining little thriller with the proper dose of comedy and suspense. A great change of pace flick.
The power of finiancial gain compels you! (yawn) Another serving of exorcisms the whole family can enjoy, yee-haw. The wife dragged me to see The Rite, and it wasn't totally wrong I suppose. I'll keep this demonically short and sweet.
It's another intriguing question of faith--an interesting examination of mental instability vs. demonic possession. We get to see a young pregnant chick speak in a crazy voice and watch her body distort in unnatural positions. Freaky for some, but you've probably seen it done before in a much more gruesome, intense fashion. An actual possession would of course be a terrifying thing to witness, but here the battle of good vs. evil never really seems to materialize. We witness Baal throwing out a few dark personal secrets while the priests toss back some holy water, but it stops well short of the horror element it could have registered.
This movie has some irritating elements--a few cheap jump scares that might work on some but they fiercely grate on my nerves. The dream sequences are an overdone gimmick as well. We also witness a demonic mule and some hellacious frogs that I thought were pretty silly.
Now for the good. Anthony Hopkins totally saves this film from complete disaster. He has creepy down pat, and he definitely electrifies the screen with his presence.
This movie does have some nice cinematography plus solid acting throughout. Overall I enjoyed The Last Exorcism quite a bit more than this. But for the young crowd or fans Of Hopkins, The Rite might very well be worth a look. 2.5 stars.

Fast cars...acrobatic stunts...bullets whizzing by...
Maybe some models in string bikinis?
Nope, it ain't gonna happen here. Don't be expecting flashbacks and dream sequences invading an intricate storyline with complex twists and turns. The 90 minute runtime never for a moment strays away from its confiscated setting. That's right, an hour and a half watching pretty boy Ryan Reynolds trapped in a box. Patience will be required.
Claustrophobes, this is most likely your worst nightmare. Heck, it's be tough on anyone--precious little air, hardly any light, a cellphone with the battery draining...I'm guessing he probably crapped his pants too. Oh, dirt is seeping in the coffin as well, so homeboy is getting smothered and covered like my Waffle House hashbrowns. Plus there might be a few surprises and unexpected dangers that are soon revealed.
One thing is for certain--Reynolds can act. No more is he relegated exclusively to the smart-aleck, penis & fart joke roles. A remarkable performance. He plays a civilian truck driver in Iraq that wakes up buried alive. Sheesh! That's worse than gaining consciousness next to a dead hooker. Fortunately he has a cell phone, and he frantically calls different numbers for help.
Buried is shot in real time and has some subtle but provocative points. Director Rodrigo Cortes even expertly mixes in some sly dark comedy. It all amounts to a slow-paced, tension-filled drama that is quite a revealing character study. It definitely won't appeal to the masses, but it's an excellent change of pace so rarely attempted in cinema.
This just isn't fair. There are certain parameters, guidelines, preconceived notions, or understood rules that any sensible polite filmmaker should adhere to. Psycho stud director Chad Ferrin (Easter Bunny Kill! Kill!) goes on a bareback'n mental rampage by violating both eye sockets and pummeling your ear canal with this disgustingly bizarre nightmare of a film, Someone's Knocking at the Door. For all you cute kids that enjoyed Zombieland or Shaun of the Dead, I'd think twice before you come walking in this neighborhood. For all you so-called seasoned gorehounds, go ahead and answer the door but be prepared to mentally grab your ankles.
Follow, if you dare, the drug-induced delirium of a group of med students that cross the line of reality and have their equilibrium shattered into tiny little worthless pieces. They all become targets for a couple of deranged serial rapists/murderers that somehow have returned from the 70's. Time to party, and it's BYOB (Bring Your Own Blood).
WARNING--Being horrificly raped to death is no way to go.
Someone's Knocking at the Door is a grindhouse throwback, a surreal headtrip that sets new standards for cinematic psychosis. It's one brutal, dirty, mind-infesting pathogen transferring sick elements of dark comedy, sex, flesh, blood, gore, super schlong nightmarish profanity insanity deep inside your vulnerable little wacked-out brains. Be careful.
High praises to Director Ti West with this excellent attempt. House of the Devil avoids current pratfalls and absurd, over-the-top rubbish that placates most new horror flicks. Thumbs up for that. This is more of a subtle, intelligent suspense story that will challenge your wits.
However, it's far from perfect. This movie doesn't deliver anything very original with the premise. Another college student/babysitting type of setup. But the idea of a satanic cult touches on a sensitive nerve that is all too disturbing.
But the Devil never really gets his due. This movie has solid acting, good character development, and creepy sound effects. Unfortunately, not much of a payoff for your patience. The story tiptoes along, and finally reaches a frightening bloody climax. Too bad it ends so abruptly.
Overall, House of the Devil is a well told story that includes a little gore. Just not much else happening. 3.5 stars.
Absolutely brilliant. This is a film just screaming for the world's attention. The basic premise of this bold and provocative story rests on some shocking displays of gruesome torture. But make no mistake, these acts of horrific violence are by no means senseless.
Eliott is a U.S. government official who is in charge of several international business negotiations. He often uses his quick wit and charisma to help sign the deal, and never even briefly considers any consequences. It's all just part of the job.
Well, a certain group of people took strong offense to his dealings. He gets kidnapped and subjected to extended bouts of the most heinous torture imaginable. To top it off, these brutal acts are streamed online for the world to see.
It's like a Hostel/Truman Show, broadcast live for some sick entertainment. Ratings soar and donations start piling in as the world watches the extreme madness. The questions also start surmounting. First and foremost--WHY? Are these simply the acts of deranged terrorists with no purpose but striking fear into the hearts of the world? Or is this possibly a rebellious stand against U.S. acts of aggression?
The acting performances here seem vey authentic. The characters pull you into a despicable place and constantly keep you off balance. One word of warning---this film contains several harsh acts of graphic violence. Your senses will get jolted, much like the American victim here. It is very unnerving, but these torturous acts are also symbolic. The utter contempt and frustration geared toward the United States might raise a few eyebrows.
This is a must-see film. Senseless deftly examines the human fascination with violence, plus our tendencies to act in self-interest. It boldly declares a much darker side of truth than you'll ever see exposed on the 5 o'clock news. It challenges you to think beyond certain slanted views. To realize much of the information we receive has been filtered. There are indeed two sides to every story.
Consider the bigger picture.
This is one demented mindscrew. Deadgirl('09) obliterates all expectations while drilling deeper and deeper into the sexual subconscious. It's an uncomfortable descent into the darkest abyss of human compassion. It explores themes of guilt and temptation with a dark moral complexity while also balancing vulnerability with invincibility. Bizarre, original, and totally morbid, this movie has cult status plastered all over it.
Rickie (Shiloh Fernandez) and J.T. (Noah Segan) are two high school buddies that seem to struggle fitting in with the "cool kids". One day they both skip school to hangout and drink some beers at an abandoned insane asylum. Eventually they stumble upon a presumably dead young woman who is chained naked to a table. Things get even more crazy as they learn that something about her just doesn't feel quite....human? Is she a vampire, zombie, or possibly something supernatural? Questions go unanswered as J.T. contemplates other uses for this exposed, beautiful woman.
This is the kind of American horror film I love to see. Forget all the lousy remakes or regurgitated popcorn nonsense. How bout one that actually pushes the boundaries and explores new horrifying territory? Deadgirl is directed by Marcel Sarmiento and Gadi Harel and written by Trent Haaga. There are solid acting performances from the cast, plus stellar character development. I couldn't help but feel sorry for the deadgirl, as she is stuck in a nightmarish limbo to be victimized by any passing scumbag. The story also contains graphic nudity to accompany the disturbing subject matter, so proceed with caution.

Hard to match the ground-breaking Herschell Gordon Lewis gem from '64 or Tim Sullivan's fun blood-soaked remake from 2005. Although Sullivan's latest entry is a step back in comparison, it still has enough offensive and fabulously gory good times to make this a worthy addition to the video blood bank. Let the flesh chomping commence!
Cult horror stud Bill Moseley stars as George W. Buckman. He steps in for Robert Englund as the mayor of Pleasant Valley, a small Southern town with a violent past. Buckman actually leads a pack of Confederate ghosts seeking revenge on any and all Northern tourists. Hungry for blood, this crazed group takes their Traveling Jambouree on the road in search of some fresh Yankee flesh.
They soon meat up in Iowa with a stranded bus full of Road Rascals, a reality show crew from California. This is an obvious spoof of The Simple Life, and is pretty darn funny. This group of pretty boys and ditsy models plan to film their show under the fake pretense that they are down in the South. They obviously get more than they bargained for when they kick it with Buckman and his insane hillbilly squad.
2001 Maniacs Field of Screams has some fairly awesome blood splatter, highlighted by some vicious table saw action. Good times. Throw in some nice shots of nudity with a hefty serving of raw unbridled humor, and you've pretty much summed up this low budget affair. Nothing ground-breaking, but this film is much better than most of the recent, larger budget Hollywood flicks polluting the theaters. Ignore these bad reviews, grab this instead of the new Halloween 2, Last House on the Left, Friday the 13th, The Amityville Horror, My Bloody Valentine, Nightmare on Elm Street, or The Wolfman.
