As disturbing as The Human Centipede (The First Sequence) was... I still enjoyed it's unique brand of terror. Yes, it was/is GROSS. Thinking about someone actually doing what that Doctor Heiter did... very sickening. And the Human Centipede itself... mentally fu*king gross.
When I heard there was to be a sequel I didn't know HOW it would be done.
Yet... here it is.
Laurence R. Harvey plays Martin... and is EXTREMELY believeable in the role. I felt sorry for Martin in some aspects. His controlling, uncaring, and abusive mother trying to kill him, blaming him for everything, and getting him beat up by the upstairs bully... my heart felt bad for him. Yet... how can you feel bad for a man who has decided to kidnap all these people (including a pregnant woman who had a toddler that Martin leaves in a car in the parking garage)?
What is smart about The Human Centipede 2 (The Full Sequence) is the way you believe Martin could do this and is capeable of such acts. You see this entire story develop from Martin's point of view. How he sees the people he takes, how he adores the Human Centipede movie, and how it has twisted him into the "monster" he has become.
I won't ruin it for you... Seriously. If you were a fan of the first one, watch the second. It's very disturbing. I usually don't care for films of this nature. I am a horror fanatic not a ... well, whatever you would call this genre of movie.
I was extremely disturbed afterward (especially about the pregnant woman and the outcome of the centipede at the end). However, it is a smart movie with great character acting. Like I said, if you can stomach it, it's worth seeing once. If you can't stomach the thought of it... or couldn't stomach the first sequence, don't dare try to watch... If you can't think about it you 100% probably can't watch. Proceed with caution... and NO CHILD should watch this... in fact, no one with a mental history should probably watch it either. (LOL)
After the first Centipede... this one was rather boring.
The movie is a very "B" filmed movie meaning it isn't high quality when it comes to the way it is filmed. However, it is a compelling story which hooks you (IF you can get past the bad semi-dub, due to the film being GERMAN, it has it's moments of being lost in translation every now and then but it NEVER hinders the story.
Now just so you understand these are NOT the "Twilight" vampires. So don't even think that.
The vamps in this movie are all women... no men are vampires... "they were (too) loud".
Even though the movie is poor quality of film it does have some good "vamp" effects that other vampire movies do NOT have. Overall, the movie is worth seeing if you like vampires (not the "sparkly" ones).
I am starting to develop a love for German Horror... this is the 2nd German horror besides Dead Snow I have seen and I really enjoyed both.
This movie is a lot like Narnia except for the fact that it's not as elaborate with creatures. It's a good story, a very good cast, and a very heartwarming story. The visuals are stunning. The actors are very much into their characters. This movie will make you laugh, smile, tear up, and even cheer. Doesn't hurt that there is eye candy for us ladies in the form of Ioan Gruffudd. Also for those of you who know him (you love him) there is the vastly talented and witty Tim Curry.
I recommend this movie for every child and those of us who still love fairy tales even though we are grown up. You are never too old to enjoy a good movie like this. It's a keeper.
I make it no secret that I love any and almost EVERY movie Andy Lau is in. He is a superior actor and a great martial artist. When I saw the trailer for this movie I knew I had to see it.
Andy never fails to deliver. From the moment he comes on screen to the moment the movie ends, you are drawn to him like a moth to a flame. He is charismatic and can do just about any/every thing to make his character believable. What was so great about this movie was that the back up cast was just as good at convincing you that they were their characters too.
Now, I won't lie... several times I got confused during this movie. I think it's because my brain is a little slow in processing what I am seeing and what I am reading from the English Subtitles... but it was NEVER hard to get back into the story. I am sure if I watched this movie again, I'd pick up whatever it is I lost along the way.
I recommend this movie for those of you who like a mystery and for those who like foreign films. It delivers a very enthralling story, the acting is really unbeatable, and the visuals are stunning.
If you haven't seen Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America... WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN!?!?!?!?!?!
Seriously... those movies are a MUST for you to understand the entire story of The Avengers.
Now anyone who knows me knows I am a huge Marvel junkie... was from way back in the day when I collected comics. I am VERY PICKY about the way the Marvel superhero movies are done.
I was extremely please with all the Iron Man movies, Thor, and even the 2nd Hulk movie... not a huge lover of the first Hulk movie or Captain America but at least Captain America was tolerable compared to that first Hulk movie (Eric Bana is bad Hulk!)
I love Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark aka Iron Man. Every movie he plays this role in seems to me he's getting better at being Tony Stark. I love Chris Hemsworth as Thor. I can tolerate Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. I like Chris Evans... that's why I saw Captain America even though I am not a huge Captain America fan. I am extremely delighted in Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye cause he really looks the part and his acting is always spot on. Tom Hiddleston as Loki... flawless as always (I just wanna hug Loki for some reason).
Where my major concern was ... was of course, where most fans concern was, THE HULK aka BRUCE BANNER. Mark Ruffalo plays this part... and he NAILS it. I mean, he reminded me of Bill Bixby in the original TV version of The Hulk. I was SO pleased that the Hulk finally got someone RIGHT to play his part. And then ... HULK SMASH... and The Hulk says some stuff... I was SO pleased that someone finally got The Hulk right on screen.
Even if that someone was someone I am essentially mad at... by the name of JOSS WHEDON. Ah, Joss Whedon, he who killed BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER for me by season 4 of the series with all the story line BS of "the key" and Buffy going all psycho... yes... THAT Joss Whedon. So, he is behind one of the BEST Superhero movies I have ever seen. Gah. And I have to ADMIT THAT? Ok, Joss, you win this round. Still mad about some things from Buffy... but when it comes to Superhero movies... you did the Avengers some TRUE justice... so thank you.
This movie is everything that a MARVEL/AVENGERS fan would want. And with the ending... a promise perhaps of a sequel?!?!? *crosses fingers*
I saw The Avengers in 3D (it's my first EVER 3D movie since I was 3 and saw King Kong). I recommend seeing it this way because it was totally awesome from start to finish... a little hard to keep up with SOME of the action in some parts but it was WELL worth it for the effect of it all.
Overall, I think this is the Superhero movie of the year... if not DECADE. We superhero fans have been waiting for this... and it's everything promised and then some (great awesome HULK funny moments too). I won't ruin the movie AT ALL for you... SEE IT... SEE IT NOW!!!!
I wasn't thrilled about another Underworld movie. I really dislike Kate Beckinsale. I don't know WHY I really dislike her but I do.
Anyway, When they announced Underworld: Awakening, I had NO intentions in seeing it... EVER!. My husband on the other hand is a HUGE lover of the Underworld movies (except Rise of the Lycans) and insisted we see it.
It wasn't all bad. I felt lost in the beginning... then it all came together... and then in the end... felt COMPLETELY unfinished which usually means another movie is coming... if not... then that was the stupidest ending EVER. But with the popularity of the Underworld franchise, I'd say another Underworld is highly likely.
What can you expect from Awakening? About the same as you could from ANY of the other Underworld's in the series... minus the love/sex story which is replaced with a MATERNAL story instead. That... plus one huge fucking Lycan.
Won't really give it away... I don't do the SPOILER thing... so if you are a fan of Underworld (especially the first 2), Awakening is a MUST see. If you haven't see the first 3 Underworld movies... see them first THEN watch Awakening.
As a movie in general, it is a little confusing, but once you put the pieces together, Underworld Awakening is just about the same as the first 2 of the Underworld Series... which ain't half bad for the 4th Underworld movie.
